~ Lament – southernmost port – rocky roads ~

In the Crescent airship, Felix and Hazel made their way into the piloting room while carrying Mr. Wolfram on Felix’s back. Hazel had to push his weight in case things were getting too heavy. Gunther managed to get a hold of Forrest, Leo, and Viola who rested within the little room.
“I couldn’t get a hold of Warren. He’s ravaging against the giant octopus monster,” Gunther claimed. “I tried to call out for him to return, but he would not listen!”
Hazel ran next to him to check outside. “We need to bring him back this instant! Fighting that monster alone is quite too dangerous.”
Before they could fly towards Warren, the last moving tentacle slapped him onto the land like a fly.
“Tch! Open the emergency hatch!” Hazel commanded.
“I’ll go too,” Felix said, standing up. Hazel was surprised that he managed to stand tall and opportunistic despite his loss. “No more people will die.”
            The group was silent.
“I’m tired of seeing close friends and family die one by one… There’s no time for mourning until later. Right now… what dad wants – is to end this.”
Leo thought about his parents, and Forrest - the same with Jess.
“We can’t let another special friend of ours go to waste like this,” Felix said. Hazel was about to speak, but Felix interrupted her, “And I don’t care if it’s too dangerous out there! I have been scared all throughout this adventure, and it brought me nowhere. When I finally had the chance to become stronger and brave, Magnus had me under control. Let me fight with you, Hazel!”
“I can see in your eyes that Magnus has lost full contact with you. His control is no longer in place.” She chuckled. “Please do join me, Felix Wolfram. Show me the true Felix!”

Reminiscent of the Past

~ Mirror Lands – underwater submarine ~

Lydia appeared into the hatch from below. She quickly closed it before a whole bunch of water came pouring in. She breathed heavily after having to hold her lungs for a while. After Lydia was thrown off the battleship, she was sent underwater, sighting the only nonmoving submarine nearest her. At the same time, she saw Clyde escaping moments before.
“Why isn’t this submarine moving?” She asked herself.
After several minutes of attempting to find the pilots, she caught sight of a trail of blood. Lydia hurriedly reached the kitchen, and then into a dining room where a lot more blood appeared. [Music 8.3]
“Rina!!” Lydia gave the worst possible shriek before helping her sit up.
Rina was motionless. Her hand was still clenching on a pen and the bloody letter. Only two lines were written.
            “…Ly…”
Lydia moved Rina’s other hand from her stomach, revealing the wound. She opened her hands and tried to heal her, but the bloody pain lasted too far long for Lydia’s healing magic to catch up.
“Clyde, wasn’t it?” Lydia stood up and headed for the closest first aid kit hanging against a wall. “You need help, fast!”
            “You have… to leave… The ship will… sink…”
Lydia grabbed the kit and opened it. As she ran back towards Rina, Lydia tripped a little, and then she gave a whooping cough. The open kit sprouted open and a roll of elastic wrap sprung past Rina and back into the kitchen.
            “Ergh…” she groaned.
“Please, don’t,” Rina kindly commanded her. “You are weakening… from the excess number of mutants in the world.”
Lydia clenched her fists. “I don’t care. It doesn’t matter if a bunch of chemical energy is taking over Rhadessia’s atmosphere. It won’t stop a Celestian like me to help save those that saved me several times in the past!”
Lydia recklessly pulled back the wrap as much as she could and then she crawled towards Rina.
“Why try? We are both… barely able to move. This ship will sink… and eventually… be drowned in water.”
Lydia began wrapping Rina’s stomach with the elastic wrap. “If we both die here, then let us at least live longer to appreciate each other’s existence.”
As Lydia was helping her, Rina began crying. “I’m sorry, Lydia. I became reckless again… You keep telling me to stop… stop doing these kind of things alone and-“
“It’s okay. You weren’t being reckless this time.”
            Rina gasped.
“You were just trying to restore order as soon as possible.”
Rina barely made a chuckle as the two of them became silent, appreciating their existence before they were to be sunken down to the bottom portion underwater.
After about five seconds, Lydia shook her head. “No.” She stood up and Rina watched her. “This isn’t over. I’m going to find the pilots and see why they haven’t been steering this ship. Rina, will you stay put a little while longer?”
            Rina gave a promising smile.
            “And you won’t move, right?”
            “This time, I promise – I won’t move.”
Lydia giggled. “Alright. I will come back for you!” [End music]

~ Lament – southernmost port – rocky roads ~

With one tentacle and one giant head remaining from the large octopus, the rest of the main group made their way to fight back. [Music 32.1] In the Crescent airship, Gunther was busy with the pilot’s shipment while Forrest focused on the head of the octopus. Viola finally opened her eyes, but she was barely able to move – the same went for Leo. Well, Leo was more paranoid that Mr. Wolfram’s body could just come back to life and eat his brains out, but that’s not important.
Felix and Hazel were standing on the Mirror Lands, at least what’s left of it. Warren sat up, coughing from the debris that he just took in.
Felix said to Hazel, “Save the last tentacle for me. I have an idea!”
“But that’s exactly where I need to shoot!”
“Aim for the octopus’ face,” Felix said. He began running towards the tentacle which was trying to whip them apart.
Hazel trusted Felix, so she stayed behind, standing in front of Warren to aim for the head.
The tentacle gave a large swoosh! and Felix swiftly grabbed onto the tentacle. It began flopping around and Felix used the tentacle as a sled to reach the body. Upon reaching the body, Felix stabbed it. The octopus tilted over, making a screech. Felix made the opportunity to run upwards and eventually reach the mouth.
Felix called to both Hazel and Forrest from different directions, “Hazel, now shoot the tentacles! Forrest, aim at the head in three, two…!”
            “Aye aye, mister Felix!”
            “Gotcha, Wolfram!” Hazel followed along.
Felix grabbed onto one of the sharp canine tooth which was the size of his body. He jumped into the mouth and the octopus felt clever by closing its mouth on him. Upon doing so, his mouth was splattered in blood and the octopus shrieked. At the same time, Forrest shot the octopus on the eye and Hazel constantly struck the eyes of the tentacles with her volley skill.
Felix was in the octopus’ mouth, but his crescent blade was placed vertically from the tongue to the gums. The octopus was finally fainting with several parts being severed, its giant body collapsing onto the remains of the Mirror Lands. Yet again, debris flew all over, the shape of a mushroom you would see after an explosion. The nearest homes of the Taujiko tribes were destroyed as a result, but the rest of the village was protected by soldiers from the three armies along with the support of the Avians.
There was silence all throughout the field and the battleships. Forrest laughed with joy and Hazel gave a sigh of relief.

What's Worse than the Worst?

“Amazing!!!” Gunther accidentally shouted in the microphone. Everyone nearby covered their ears. “Woops, hehe.”
More monsters began to appear from underwater this time.
“The heroes have struck the biggest monster in this war. We shall return the favor and take care of the rest! I suggest that you look for the source of these monsters.”
Felix jumped out of the octopus’ mouth, realizing it resembled a lot of Igor. “I’m sorry…”
Hazel patted his back. “Do not worry. You did not kill the professor. This is simply a clone.”
            “Then… where is the professor?”
“He’s still out there somewhere. He’s possibly at the source of monsters if they keep spawning the fastest out of every other tower.” [End music]
“Hazel!” Gunther said from the microphone. “I got a message from the other towers. Lieutenant Floir is currently finishing up with the tower in the Aria River. Lieutenant Lionel is just about concluding his cleanup at the Hollow Cavern.” [Music 38.1]
He began steering the ship down towards the Mirror Lands to report to her about the rest of the mission quietly so that Magnus would not be able to hear.
“They will be moving on to the Vaticul Canyon, the Frolix Volcano, and the Zweiland Mountains to help speed up the process.”
Hazel nodded. “That is good to hear. We still have yet to find the last two towers.”
Felix held tightly onto his necklace which no longer emitted Chemical energy. His control was completely dispelled from Professor Igor in case Magnus wanted to try something sneaky again. In his other hand was the box, the wedding ring that Mr. Wolfram wanted to give to Felix’s mother.
“Dad… I have to figure this out on my own…” In shock, Felix turned around. “Wait a minute, that’s right! The Center of the World!”
“What is it, Felix? Is there something new you would like to tell us?” Hazel turned to him.
“I know that one of the two missing towers is coming from ‘the center of the world’. If it’s not here, then it’s somewhere else. First, we need to find Lydia and Rina!”
            Hazel sighed. “Lydia… I’m afraid she…”
Felix shivered in dismay. “No… no, she can’t be dead!” He recklessly ran towards the edge of the Mirror Lands. “LYDIA!!!”
In doing so, a large submarine came flying out of the waters and it crashed into Felix, causing him to fall onto the floor.
Lydia opened the windows from the pilot room. The two pilots were tied in ropes. It’s surprising that Clyde decided to spare these people’s lives, but maybe he wanted them to suffer in hunger or drown to death rather than having a quick, painless death.
“I drove pretty awesome, didn’t I?” Lydia giggled.
The two pilots stared angrily at her, disagreeing.
She suddenly became serious. “OH! Rina!”
Felix followed her into the ship. “Rina is in there?!”
As Gunther was about to carry Warren, he heard in his walkie talkie, “Your majesty, a mysterious figure just escaped past Taujiko! He had blondish hair and it was tied into a ponytail, but we could not figure out who he was!”
Hazel grinned. “That sounds a lot like Clyde D’Alonzo.”
            “You know of this man?”
“He must have escaped this war and decided to go back to the source.”
Gunther placed Warren behind his back. “What a mess. Then I guess the tower should be in the direction past Taujiko?”
“No. He is smarter than that.” Hazel headed for the Crescent ship where Forrest was running out to hug her. “He is running the opposite direction of the source. We will figure this out once Felix returns. The Center of the World…
            “Hazel!! We did it! Hehe!”
Hazel tried to put a smile up for Forrest. “That’s right!” They both hugged. “When this is all over, I’m treating you out to ice cream.”
“Is that all I get for killing a giant fish monster?!”
“Do you want zero rewards instead?”
            “N-No… I like ice cream.”
            “Good.” [End music]

~ Mirror Lands – submarine ~

Both Lydia and Felix rushed into the dining room where Rina was. She was on the floor, motionless. [Music 51.2]
            Lydia’s eyes widened. “Rina…?! RINA!!!”
Felix fell to the ground, heartbroken once more. “Not another…”
“Rina, please wake up!” She grabbed onto Rina’s shoulders.
            …
            “Rrrrrr…”
            “What…?”
“Rrrrr…! I’m a zombieeeeee!” Rina sat up, toyishly moving her arms forward.
Lydia began pulling her own hair in frustration. “Oh my gosh, RINA! Don’t play around like that!”
Felix rolled his eyes. “You were better off dead,” he joked.
“Anyway, how are you feeling?” Lydia felt Rina’s bandage.
“If you poke it like that, I won’t feel any better.” She struggled. “To be honest, I’ve been feeling fine. Just take me to some hospital already so I can sit back up and kick Clyde’s ass for what he did to me.”
Felix’s stomach churned. “Clyde… did this to you?”
“To be fair, he was being controlled by chemical energy,” Rina reminded him. “Still, every time I see that bastard’s face, it disgusts me.”
Felix chuckled. “Same Rina as ever…” He became serious. “I agree with you. We need to stop Clyde, but we need to take you to a hospital!”
Lydia turned to him, “In order to do that, you might want to come over here and help me get her up.”
            “O-Oh right! Sorry.”
The two of them began carrying Rina behind them. Rina watched the two of them from behind as she placed her head in between their shoulders. She closed her eyes and smiled, resting and thinking about the irony. In the beginning, it was Rina who constantly protected Lydia from others, and it was Rina who yelled at Felix for being pathetic and annoying. Now, Rina was here, being saved by the two most important friends whom she patronized all this time. [End music]

Always the Jealous Type

~ Lament – southernmost port – rocky roads ~

Hazel tried to push Warren into the main lobby of the Crescent airship. Leo and Viola were both resting peacefully on a nearby couch, both being awake and aware that the war has calmed down a little. The rest of the monsters were being taken care of by the soldiers and Avians. Gunther continued to read the manual in the piloting room while Forrest sat on the floor in front of him, asking several childish questions about his life. [Music 5.1]
Hazel wiped her forehead. “It would have been nice of you to help me carry this man, Leo.”
“Hey! I barely have enough energy to lift myself up.”
“All that’s left is to head for the submarine and find the other three rotten teenagers,” she jokefully insulted them. “Can anybody stand?” She turned to Leo and Viola.
Leo gasped at the sight of Lydia running towards the Crescent airship while she left Felix with the heavy job. He fell, causing Rina to roll over.
            “Damn it, Suspenders!” Rina shouted.
Lydia turned around to shriek at first, but she giggled due to their minor mishap.
“Oops! I’m sorry. I must have gotten carried away,” she said happily. “Come on Rina, one… two… three!” Lydia fell instead of picking her best friend up. “You’re heavier than I thought…”
“Well thanks for leaving me with the full weight,” Felix complained.
As the three teenagers arrived at the front hatch of the airship, Lydia helped Rina sit by the opening.
“Are your wounds bad?” Hazel asked kindly.
“If you consider literally getting stabbed in the back, I guess so.”
Hazel suddenly felt much more concerned than she had expected. “Let me see them!”
“I-It’s fine. When Clyde pulled the sword out and ran off, I used the little bit of magic I had in me in order to preserve the pain and restore very slowly, but like I said to Lydia and Suspenders here, I might need to go to the hospital still. None of your basic healing magic can help this woman.” She pointed at herself.
Forrest was on the floor, playing with his cubed bazooka. “If only Jess had magic…” he said out loud.
            The group became quiet.
Rina limped towards him. “If Jess had magic, it’d be the end of the world!” She joked. “Not just anyone can use magic.”
Forrest began to smile. “Hehe, maybe you’re right. Not everyone is good with magic like you, Rina.”
“Ew, don’t you dare compliment me again.” She pouted while looking away.
Leo yawned. “Ah, no matter how many times you tell that girl not to rush off and make herself vulnerable, she does it anyway.”
Lydia nodded. “Yep! I gave up trying to stop her, but at this point, I have learned to trust her. She made it this far and she was smart enough to save herself from a stab wound.”
“That’s great and all, but is this ship working? I need to find a place to rest! Something comfy!”
Viola sat upward. “I suggest the Village of Saradeli. Their infirmary is quite nice and cozy. Lady Pria may be good at replenishment.”
“You finally suggested something useful,” Warren joked with her.
“That’s because I’m also in need of a hospital.”
“It’s like her to suggest something when it has to do with her,” Lydia sighed, scratching her head in second-hand embarrassment.
Felix began entering the pilot room where Gunther and Warren were. [End music]
“Not so fast,” a voice said from outside.
“This war never ends!” Forrest cried.
Professor Talbot appeared, fixing his glasses. The lens were hard to see from their point of view. He awkwardly cued music in some device in his pocket as if he were some villain ready to make a surprise attack. It kind of sounded like a terrible mix of a vampire and horror story put together.
A large, mutated mountain lion jumped above him but he stabbed it with the least possible amount of effort.
“I have a request,” he said. “I remember pulling a switch from Garnett’s body. I would like to go back with you all to see what kind of upgrades I can do for her.”
“And what were you doing throughout the entire war of monsters?!”
            “Very important business, thank you!”
“Professor, would you like some tea?” Mrs. Nora offered.
            “Gladly!”
Rina stared at him with a disbelief look on her face. “Riiiight…”
Lydia took a step forward. “Professor, what would you want with Garnett?”
“In a sense,” he responded, “her name is also Lydia. But that would make you Garnett, wouldn’t it? My head seems to be hurting.”
            Lydia frowned. “But I’m Lydia!”
Rina slapped her forehead. “Why does she always have to kindly reveal her name to this loser?”
While their conversation continued, Felix knelt down in front of his father in the piloting room.
“Sir Wolfram,” Warren said to Felix, “Would you like some alone time with your beloved father?”
“No need. I’m good, thanks for asking though.” [Music 8.2]
“He was a fine young man when he worked with us in the Gammel government.”
            Felix said nothing.
Gunther listened to them carefully. Warren continued, “He was quite intimidating indeed. I used to believe he was the lieutenant of the lieutenants!”
“I would hope so. He was strict but very loving, at least from what I remember,” Felix chuckled. “He only trusted the D’Alonzo family when it came to me making new friends around the village. He was overly protective, but he did it out of love. I was surprised how much nicer he was when I finally saw him back in Bafuul. It blew my mind when he was the one who wanted me to explore the world and save Lydia from imprisonment.” He held on tightly to the wedding ring.
            “Sir Wolfram…”
“It just sucks that all these years, I thought he left to be a selfish, rich man. When I found out about his plans back in Bafuul, all I could ever think about was for him to come home so we could have a normal family. I could have a mother and a father at the same time. They could have a son grow up before their eyes, but it wasn’t like that at all. When I finally got the hope of being a normal family after all this is over, it suddenly… It can’t happen anymore. I always think back to how I was and regret that I was some whiny kid who hated his father. How typical, don’t you think?”
“It is common, but as a matter of growing into a man,” Warren said to him.
Felix placed the box with the wedding ring into his pocket. “Warren, you’re a grown man, right?”
Gunther raised his hand. “I am too.”
Warren gave him a very frightful glare.
Felix turned to Warren, “Do you think it’s okay that I don’t give this wedding ring to my mom? My dad was going to propose to her after this feud with Magnus, but…”
“Sir Wolfram! Is that really a good idea?”
“I don’t know… It’s really going to break her heart if she knew about this wedding ring.”
“I understand how you feel. However, I believe it would be a better idea to show her the truth. Your dad would want the same.”
Felix shrugged. “How do you know he would want to give her the ring even after what happened to him?”
“Why else did he entrust the ring to you?”
            Felix gasped. “Oh…”
From across the door, Lydia was listening to the entire conversation. She had a frown on her face, unknown to the fact that Felix’s father passed away during this war while she was thrown out of the battleship.
“Snooping again?” Viola said out of nowhere.
Lydia was astonished. Her head banged against the wall beside her. “V-Viola! Don’t scare me like that!”
“You know, Felix needs his privacy sometimes too. He doesn’t need a girlfriend to be sneaking around his life all the time,” she winked.
Lydia blushed. “G-G-G-Girlfriend?! Where are you getting at?! Viola, I can’t believe you!”
“I never said you were going to be his girlfriend.”
“What? That’s so mean to say too!”
“Wait, so you want to be his girlfriend?”
“No! I mean, well… Viola, you should be resting until we get to the village. Aren’t your legs still injured?”
Viola looked at her legs. “Oh right, I almost forgot. It does hurt now that you mention it. Very well then. I will return to my room and let everyone know that you’re the reason why the pain has returned.”
As she walked away, Lydia sighed. “Eheh…” She turned to the doorway. “Girlfriend... I-Impossible, hehe.” [End music]

~ Lament – southernmost port – rocky roads ~

As Forrest, Hazel, and Leo were running away from the octopus tentacles, they realized they were forced to run the opposite direction to the fallen Viola. Leo called out for her, but she was not waking up. The giant octopus, with the face of Professor Igor, began ravaging across the Mirror Lands. It suctioned its way towards Taujiko. [Music 10.2]
Hazel became frustrated. “The people of Taujiko are our most important members of this battle. They are the ones who heal the mends of those who have almost lost their lives!”
Forrest was aiming for one of the tentacles with his cubed bazooka. “But if that thing kills the healers, then there wouldn’t be any healers to… heal us!”
“Exactly… so we need to defeat that monster right away.” Hazel grabbed her bow again. “It’s not even looking at us. What mockery!”
Forrest shot a large fire beam at one of the tentacles. There was a large explosion but it only charcoaled the purple tentacle. Each was the size of two houses, so that explosive didn’t do much. Suddenly, each suction cup from the tentacle opened and there were eyeballs in every one of them.
Forrest squealed. “EEGH!” He hid behind Leo, but Leo was barely limping on his own accord.
Hazel smiled. “That makes sense,” she said. “You can’t mutate a regular octopus as a clone and somehow make it this huge, even if chemical energy is involved.”
            “What do you mean??”
“I’m saying… it is a clone that has been mutated together with several hundreds of dead bodies!” She struck one of the eyeballs with an arrow. The tentacle twitched but it still kept moving. It lifted itself, ready to slam onto the ground.
Forrest rolled out of the way. “I get it! Even tentacles like that thing has feelings!”
“…Kind of. It can feel pain, but only slowly until we defeat each one!”
Leo elbowed Hazel, indicating that she shouldn’t drive Forrest to kill any more human beings.
            Hazel sighed.
“It’s okay. I’m choosing to do this!” Forrest interrupted them. “Let’s hurry!” [End music]
Hazel and Leo moved out of the way while the tentacle was collapsing. They began to try their new tactic on this giant octopus!

The Final Word Game!

A Heroic Kind of Evil

Lydia began coughing more compared to before.
Felix turned to her. “Hey, are you alright?” [Music 30.2]
“Y-Yeah, I’ll be fine.” She tried to stand up. “Hey, Felix? Why are we doing this? What are you doing down here while the rest of them are fighting outside?”
Felix sighed. “I know, it seems like we’re putting the least amount of effort. But, I sense something in this ship that can help immediately end this war!”
            “What do you mean?”
            “I…”
“It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me. I know Magnus is censoring what you really want to say. I trust that you know what you’re doing.”
“I’m just trying to get to the core of this battle.” He looked forward. “There is a room up ahead emitting chemical energy. You can see the smoke coming out from one of the doors.”
Lydia covered her nose as she began speaking with a high-pitched voice. “Then let’s get going. We just need to run past that door and get to the other side of the hall.”
Felix began to chuckle, and she played along with his laughter.
As the two of them rushed across the door, Felix took a quick peek but he spotted something peculiar. He took a step back.
            Lydia turned around. “Felix! Hurry!”
Felix’s eyes opened widely. This time, he ran into the room and he blocked his lungs from inhaling air. He dragged a body out of the room as quickly as possible before he was out of breath.
In the hallway, Lydia’s heart sank. Her eyes opened widely as Felix dragged the body out of the room filled with chemicals.
Felix shook him. “Dad, dad!! Are you okay?!”
“He really is in here…” Lydia said quietly.
Mr. Wolfram opened his eyes. “Yes… I’m fine.”
“How long have you been in that room?!”
“Only for a few minutes. Luckily, the chemical energy in here was not heavy. The heavier energy is being focused on the towers far away from here.”
            Lydia jumped. “Far away?!”
“Yeah…” Felix said in disappointment. “I knew, but I couldn’t say… I’m very sorry, Lydia.”
“You shouldn’t be sorry, Felix. It’s Magnus who should be sorry!”
Mr. Wolfram felt Felix’s cheeks. “Don’t worry. I can get up myself. Please, you two should go ahead. Magnus is actually on his way out of the ship, and the only way to reach the top is through the chemical room.”
Felix held Mr. Wolfram on his back and Lydia helped drag him. “We’re taking you out of here and we’ll have a friend extract all the chemical energy out of you!” As they began walking, Felix frowned. “You never told me you were so heavy…”
Mr. Wolfram chuckled. “(Felix, you have grown into a fine man. Your mother should be proud.)” [End music]

            ~ Mirror Lands – underwater submarine ~

Clyde let go of the sword. It was one of the swords that looked holographic, but it was definitely real. Rina fell to the ground, finally able to yell in pain. Clyde’s eyes twitched. His eyes reverted for a split second but that was it.
He gave a cynical smile again. “How does it feel to lose even after gaining the best magic in the world? Ha ha!” With his real sword in hand, he ran off towards his next targets.
Rina was sitting by a dresser. She tried to see what the situation was outside by looking through the window, but everything was pitch-black and there were only rumbling noises, the same as what she heard when entering the submarine. She was now just waiting to die, knowing there was no hope for her to survive. It’s clearly expected that Clyde’s next target is the pilot. Once the pilot dies, this ship will sink forever and Rina would be stuck underwater until she’s gone. [Music 37.3]
“She removed her backpack, opened it, and took out the letter from Faris. Above and adjacent to her was a table containing a pen and paper. She grabbed onto both objects, but her body was too weak. She collapsed again and both the pen and paper slowly fell to the ground. The sheet was filled with blood marks from her fingers.
She coughed out blood again, almost crying.
Dear family and friends… she wrote, I am sorry for being a stubborn child. It took her about two long minutes to even write this sentence down. Blood was slowly making its way out her stomach. I will be in a better place, together with Faris. I depend on my friends dearly to stop Magnus. They will carry on the promise I have made to you, and… she turned to the sentence on Faris’ letter.
The Rina I know would never give up.
However, Rina’s eyes went blank and her entire body was shutting down.

~ Lament – southernmost port – rocky roads ~

Two large tentacles were down but Forrest was sent rolling all over the small island of the Mirror Lands. In this sort of battle, Leo was deemed less useful as compared to long-ranged weapons. In any way to help, Leo tried to find the fastest way to reach Viola before she got knocked off the island.

Run Faster, Little One

While the octopus had its front tentacles making its way to the village of Taujiko, a bunch of soldiers and Avians helped stop it from going further.
Unfortunately for Hazel, two other octopus tentacles were aiming for her. They began twirling faster which made it difficult for any of the long-ranged attackers to aim for the eyes.
            “Hazel! Run away!!” Leo shouted.
Hazel was about to, but there was only one other way. She ran towards the center of the island where the pedestal was – the pedestal that could create a pathway towards Lament.
As both tentacles were falling, the right tentacle fell directly above the pedestal, trying to break the device. Hazel was right below, but everything was pitch black. One of the suction cups opened its eyes at her, then it turned into a suction cup again, squeezing the little room she had left. The tentacle went back up, crushing parts of the pedestal and having Hazel stuck against one of the suction cups.
            “Hazel!!!” Forrest called.
Leo yelped. “This doesn’t look good!”
The tentacle began to bind itself like a snake and she was yelling in pain, feeling as if her breath was being taken away by a strong grip to her waist.
            “AGH!” She yelled.
Sure, the tentacles have stopped spinning and Forrest could easily shoot more eyes down, but it was hard to focus with a hostage. Maybe a smaller, more effective ammunition could have worked, but every one of Forrest’s bazooka shots were always huge. It could hurt Hazel even if he was trying to aim far away from her.
“Do it, Forrest! You have to!” Hazel commanded.
Forrest was shaking the most out of all the moments he had in this battlefield. “I-I can’t do that, Hazel!”
“Please, you must. If you do not, these tentacles will continue to destroy the world. I’m just one life, and it must be done to save many others!”
Forrest closed his eyes. His finger was near the trigger on his cubed bazooka. “Why is this happening?!” Tears came running down his eyes. “I can’t… I just can’t do it! I don’t want to lose another mom!!!”
For a moment, Hazel was able to ignore the pain after hearing what Forrest has said. She closed her eyes as well. “Oh Forrest… Thank you… I can finally live at peace…” She tried to give a chuckle, but the grip was getting too narrow.
Forrest’s finger moved again. He knew he had to do it, and so he pulled the trigger. Forrest created one of the largest bazooka shots and it was flying towards Hazel and the two tentacles.
Leo tried not to look. [End music]
The two tentacles were being shot by a bunch of gunfire and Forrest gasped. “Huh?! That’s not my ammo!” The bazooka shot flew past the twitching tentacles and it hit the octopus’ body. [Music 50.1]
Warren was controlling the Crescent airship!
“I had a word with my old buddy Gunther,” he said through a loud microphone. “This airship can fight too!”
“Give me the mic! It’s mine!”
            “Back off, bitch!” Warren responded.
Leo rolled his eyes. “Geesh, where did he get that language? From Rina?”
Hazel sighed. “That… was completely out of character.”
The tentacle was in slight pain from the gunfire. It tossed Hazel to a nearby battleship.
“Catch her, damn it!” Gunther yelled.
“They threw her really quickly! I was never a catcher, just the pitcher! And let me tell you, I could have pitched that much better!” Warren responded.
            “What does that even mean?!”
“You tell me!” Warren steered the ship towards the octopus’ face.
Forrest continued to shoot more from his bazooka in order to get rid of the rest of the tentacles. Warren lowered the window from the piloting room as he jumped out with his large hammer.
“Hey Forrest, what was that childish game you taught me at one point?”
“Which game?” Forrest said with enthusiasm.
“Whack-a-mole?” He began attacking the octopus’ head while Forrest laughed, continuing to shoot the tentacles as far away as possible from the body. He didn’t want to accidentally shoot Warren.
Gunther gave a thumbs-up. “For a wimpy little man like you, you’re doing great!”
“I’m not wimpy NOR LITTLE!” Warren shouted as he constantly tried to attack the giant monster.
“Whatevs! I’ll go find Hazel!” Gunther steered the Crescent airship towards the large lot of battleships that were on the verge of breaking and falling.

~ Mirror Lands – Initial battleship ~

At the top deck of the battleship, Felix, Lydia, and Mr. Wolfram found Hazel lying on the ground. She was on her knees, barely able to move due to the previous landing.
“Hazel! What are you doing up here?!” Lydia knelt down.
Felix helped Mr. Wolfram sit beside the nearest crate.
The ship began shaking. Hazel coughed. “D-Don’t worry. There are barely any mutants left on the island. The only thing left is…” She pointed at the octopus that resembled Professor Igor.
“Wh… What is that thing?!” Felix shouted.
“It’s an octopus,” Hazel said bluntly.
Lydia shook her head.” Hazel! How can you be joking at a time like this?” She tried to help her up but the ship shook again.
“One of its tentacles must be nearby!” Hazel shouted. Another shake and Hazel went sliding out of Lydia’s grip.
The deck end of the ship was leaning over and Hazel grabbed onto the ledge with one hand. The ship bounced back onto normal level, but Hazel was still stuck on the ledge. Lydia tried to run towards her, but a large electric shock struck in between her and Hazel.
“AHH!!” Lydia screamed. The wave knocked her over to a side adjacent to Felix and Hazel.
Felix gasped. “What’s going on?!” [End music]
“Oh, the tentacle is not your biggest worry,” Magnus came floating from above. He was blocking the way towards Hazel. [Music 56.1]
Felix took a step forward. “Get away from her!”
“Yeah sure, I’m going to let her go after a simple command like that from a puny little worthless human like you. You know, as long as the real Professor Igor is alive, you’re still in my control, heheh.”
Felix took out his crescent blade. “Shut up! I’m going to stop you right here and now!”
Magnus picked out something from his back pocket. “I have lived quite a while to experience technology to its fullest, and I will have Igor work for me. Are you sure you want to fight me?” He had a pistol in his hand.
            Lydia gasped. “Felix, be careful!”
            “Ergh…”
“I could just control you right now. You can just stand there as I shoot you in the head, or maybe it’s better to shoot each one of your friends one by one?”
Lydia began to cry. “Why are you doing this?! What have we done to deserve this?”
“It’s for what you stupid humans have done to me for so many years!”
“We didn’t do anything!” Lydia argued.
“You filthy humans will keep fighting and selfishly take my rights away from me. You don’t know what I’ve been through. People lie… over and over.”
Felix raised out his hand. “Magnus… you don’t have to do this.” He had his hand out even knowing that Magnus was pointing a gun at his face.
“Enough with the sweet talk, vermin. It’s fun watching humans finally obeying my every command. Maybe I should start off with…”
            “STOP!!!” Lydia screamed.
Magnus kicked with his right leg. The vibration sent Lydia flying off the ship.
“AHH!” She screamed as she disappeared from Felix’s sight. Her scream faded as she fell into the water.
“LYDIA!!!!!” Felix clenched his teeth. “You need to stop this!!!!”
“This is so exhilarating, don’t you think? Who is next?” He had his fingers close to the trigger. “Maybe…”
Felix watched as the gun was pointing at him. “No…”
Slowly, the gun was shifting to Felix’s left. It finally hit him. He knew what Magnus was truly going after.
“Wait… Magnus, please, no. You can’t do this. You have to stop. We can work something together!” He turned around and watched Mr. Wolfram, frowning and knowing that his time has come.
Felix was about to jump in front of his father, but his body was not moving. “Wh-What’s happening?” He was being controlled by Magnus. He could not jump nor move his legs at all. Then, the gun sounded.
“GRAHHHH!” a yelp was heard from the crates.
Felix did not want to turn around.
            “HAHAHA!”
Everything else went blank for Felix. The dangers of Magnus was not in his mind as he carelessly ran for his father who had just been shot near the heart. [End music]
            “Dad, DAD!!!”
Magnus only floated there, watching instead of aiming for the next person. He’d rather watch someone in pain than go on a shooting spree. [Music 52.1]
Felix had his hand over his dad’s chest. “You’re bleeding like crazy. Let me…” He tried to rip one of his sleeves off, but his father fell onto Felix’s arm.
            “Stop…”
“But dad…” Felix began crying. He could barely speak. “You can’t… You were supposed to… supposed to…!”
“I should have been a better analyst. I should have requested to have the village prosper sooner. I regret it, my dear son. I have been a terrible father.”
“How can you say that at a time like this?! I am the terrible son! I didn’t even jump to protect you. What kind of son just stands there and watches his dad die like this? Please, don’t go away. Mom still needs to see you!”
“I know you wanted to jump for me. I know my son more than anyone else,” he chuckled. “Let your mother know that I still and will always love her. I wanted… to give her this once I came back.” He grabbed something from his pocket. It was a small box. Upon opening it, Felix’s heart sank.
            “A marriage ring…”
“I thought if I was able to swoon her with the village’s prosperity, our marriage would mean a lot to her.” He smiled. “Remember how she always got mad whenever I joked about getting an expensive ring? ‘Don’t go spending money we don’t have’, she would kindly say. She was such a sweetheart who knew when to be serious. I hope she’s still the same…”
Felix held on tightly to the box. “Dad… No…”
“Farewell, my son. Even up above, I will try to be the coolest dad you always wanted.”
Felix pressed his face against his dad’s chest.
“So… kick that man’s ass… for me.” He slowly stopped moving.
            “DAD!!!!”
“Boohoo,” Magnus joked. “The show’s finally over. Now for my next target,” he yawned.
            “That’s it.”
            “Hm??”
“It doesn’t matter what the hell kind of past you had. How can we sympathize if you’re going to keep murdering people?!”
“I wasn’t looking for sympathy. I just look for your pain. Now, how about I make you kill the woman behind me?”
            Hazel’s eyes opened widely.
“Poor woman, trying to safe her own life by hanging on. Why don’t you just let go and fall into the water, just like the Obsidian?”
Right below Hazel was a whirlpool that came from the octopus who had previously meshed with the waters all around the Mirror Lands.
“Oh right, you’ll die either way. It’s too bad I didn’t toss the other girl in this direction. Maybe she got dragged into it while being in the water. She’s probably dead by now, stupid Obsidian.” [End music]
Felix’s legs were moving on his own. “Stop trying to control me! I’m done with this!” He knelt down. [Music 51.2]
            “GET UP!”
“NO! I am so sick of it. I am sick of you, your face... your apathy, everything about you! I don't have the heart to hate you, nor anybody for that matter. But there is one thing that sets you apart from others... you will never be forgiven for what you have done to innocent bystanders. Someone could hurt you, rip you apart, and even then I won't feel sympathy towards you!"
Magnus flinched at the last statement. Why?
Suddenly, Felix stood up quickly and he began walking towards Hazel.
“My dad wouldn't want me to mourn over him forever. He would want me to continue protecting those who are still breathing, not just for Hazel's sake, but because her loved ones need her!”
Magnus sighed while watching Felix struggle to move. His voice lowered a little. “Even so, it looks like your mind is the one losing here.”
Felix was only a few feet away from Hazel. His chakrams appeared from his hand and the crescent blade dropped from his other grip.
“Felix…” Hazel sighed. She was the one who struggled the most with Felix compared to any other person she knew. She tried to understand him, but it was her time to fall. Felix was about to slice her to pieces.
“Magnus…!!!!” Felix was forced to kneel down so that he could tease Hazel by trying to aim for her wrist. His arms were shaking, and he was at least five inches away from her wrist.
“Errragh, no more of your words! Slice her arm off! I know you can do it. Come on, you don’t care for her enough to stop yourself from doing it!”
You don’t care for her enough…
Two more inches in, and suddenly, the chakrams disappeared. Felix grabbed Hazel’s hand and he began pushing her up.
            Hazel gasped. “Felix?!”
Felix tossed her up towards the ship again.
“BULLSHIT!” Magnus shouted as he caused a large force, pushing Hazel back off the ship. This time, Hazel wanted to make one last move before she fell into the whirlpool. With quick reflexes, she grabbed her bow and arrow as she shot right through his eye.
“ERAAAAAH!!!!! WHAT THE HELL?! YOU BITCH!!!” He fell to the ground. His aura vanished for a moment.
As Hazel was falling, Gunther flew the Crescent ship right below her and she landed. Felix quickly stood up on his own will. He grabbed his crescent blade.
“You’re not getting away!” Felix ran towards Magnus and he gave a heavy stab towards Magnus but he vanished. “DAMN IT! Coward, don’t run away from us!” [End music]
There was utter silence this time. Felix realized Magnus wasn’t able to retaliate anytime soon with a new puncture in his eye. But, they were to react quickly until that man regenerates his strength. Felix quickly headed for his father, dragging him towards the edge of the ship to get picked up by the Crescent airship.
Hazel had her hand out. “Take my hand, Felix! It is not safe around here!”
Felix looked over at the octopus. “But…!”
“We will take care of it next. Hop on, Wolfram!” Hazel finally gave the sweetest smile she could to him. It seemed she wanted to trust him for once.
She looked really calm and happy for him, and Felix kindly accepted her hand.
[Ending 5 music]
