The Obsidian Tale
Episode 25
[Opening 2 music]
[Opening 2 music]
~ Bafuul – isolated bedroom ~
“If saving the world means so much
to everyone and even to myself, then it doesn’t matter if I lose something
valuable. It doesn’t matter if the Gammel army wants to use my Obsidian energy.
As long as it helps preserve the world, then so be it! As long as I survive,
then…!” Lydia closed her eyes, ready to slice her hand away from the handcuffs.
“H-Here goes nothing!!” [Music 17.2]
In her mind, every thought passed her
head in a flash, but it felt like eternity. “I will never be the same,” Her
mind processed. “But it doesn’t matter. If I learn to care for the world, for
my friends, and cherish them as my most lovable aspects of life, then it
doesn’t matter what I lose!”
A steel arrow flew in from the
doorway and it shattered the handcuff that locked Lydia’s wrists together. Lydia’s
heart skipped a beat as she dropped the ventilation blade into the three-foot
pool of water in the bedroom.
Lydia watched as the woman by the doorstep
called out for her to make a run for it. The woman had the Gammel military
outfit on, but Lydia had no time to question someone who just saved her life.
“Th-Thank you! But why? Why did you,
a Gammel personnel, save an Obsidian like me?”
“You do not have time for questions.”
The woman said with a stern voice. “Escape with your friends. The Gammel army
will discover me eventually.”
“My friends are here?!”
“They have just been sent into
Bafuul. I must go.”
Lydia tried to stop her. “W-Wait!
Where are they held in?! Please tell me!” Instead, the woman continued to run
upstairs without saying anything else nor did she look back.
“Oh…” Lydia sighed. “It’s okay. I
have to figure this out on my own.” She thought about how the woman just saved
her, but she tried to shrug it off. “I don’t need anyone else to save me.” [End music]
~ Bafuul – upper west wing ~
Sydney was standing closest to the
jail bars in her cell with Spencer and Jess. She had her hands beside her hips.
“Girls,” Sydney joked.
Spencer was crying. “I’m a boy!!” [Music 14.2]
“Not with all that crying.” She
turned to Jess, “That boy’s been at it for hours! Can’t we make him shut up??”
The group of three children looked
the same as ever, just with a little more dirt on their face. As usual, Spencer
only had one lens on his glasses while the other was shattered. They were in
need of new clothes, but this was the end of their lines. They were sent to
jail for life.
Jess was trying to keep calm. She
said to Sydney, “We must keep at our own pace, Sydney. Spencer is young, and we
have to respect his pace.”
Sydney rolled her eyes. “Ugh, he’s
only like what, a year younger?? And what’s worse is that we have this creepy
girl standing outside our cell thing for no reason.”
Jess took a look at the ‘girl’
outside the cell.
Spencer wiped his tears and he was
still sniffling. “Um, I think that’s a boy.”
“NO. Shut up. She’s a girl.”
The boy-girl turned around.
“P-Please, keep it down.”
“Did you hear her voice? Clearly a
girl,” Sydney added.
Spencer disagreed. “No, that was a
young boy voice!”
Jess stood up. “The both of you –
let’s not judge this person.” She turned to the person outside the cell, “What
is your name? You don’t look like you would work here with the Gammel army.”
Sydney became uninterested in the
conversation, so she decided to continue picking on Spencer in the back.
“My name is Bailey. I was recently
recruited to serve the Gammel army in order to stop those who choose to do
wrong in this world. I am surprised you three started early.”
Jess chuckled. “Actually, we have no
idea why we did it. We have a friend out there in this world right now. He’s
probably traveling and finding a way to get revenge.”
“Why?”
“We both clashed with this woman who
worked with Lieutenant uh, Floir, right?”
Bailey blushed. “Floir… I’ve always
wanted to work with her ever since I joined. She is quite a beauty in the eyes
of leadership. She always seemed so strong, and she never talked about herself.
I want to know her more.”
“Is that so? My friend opposes her
quite a bunch, but I guess I would be going against my word to pre-judge
Lieutenant Floir as well.”
“What is your friend like?”
“He’s… very into being heroic. I
really love his determination. That boy always walks around acting all big,
thinking he can do anything. But, I believe in him. He’s not just talk, but I
know he’s all action too. One thing I like about him most is that he’s protective
and he accepts anyone who bears a light and kind heart.”
Bailey frowned. “Huh??”
“What’s wrong?”
“I feel like I’ve met someone
similar to that. He kept telling me to stay away from the Gammel army, but he
has no idea what the army can do to save the world.”
Jess tilted her head. “What exactly
did the Gammel army tell you?”
“The world can be preserved with the
help of the Obsidian. They say she refuses to help, and it sounds really
selfish.”
Jess sighed. She wanted to tell
Bailey that it might be because taking energy from her may come with a high
cost, but she didn’t want to argue with someone who just joined the Gammel
government.
“So tell me, Bailey, why did they
choose you?” [End music]
“That’s one thing I still don’t
understand. I never wanted to ask or else the higher people would yell at me…”
“I see…” Jess turned around and she
had a concerned look on her face. She then grabbed her cape from behind as she
looked into its red shading.
~ Bafuul – isolated bedroom ~
After Felix, Rina, and Leo were pushed
into the prison room, a soldier kicked Forrest’s behind and the poor boy flew
into the cell. His face was slapped against the brick walls. [Music 25.1]
“Owie! I’m gonna get you for that!!”
Forrest said with a giant bruise above his head.
Felix and Leo quickly placed Rina on
the only bed that was available.
“It’s a good thing they have a chair
too,” Forrest ran up to the so-called ‘chair’ on the other end of the room.
“Oh… it’s a pooper.”
Rina whined. “Ugh, even in prison…
you’re annoying.”
Felix wiped his forehead. “Ergh… So
we’re finally here. What is your plan now, Leo?”
Leo shrugged. “The easiest and most
classic way was to have the only woman here try to seduce the soldiers but-“
“You make me do something else,”
Rina said slowly, “and I will surely kill you when I feel better.” She made a
slight cough afterwards.
Felix gave a nervous laughter.
“Eheh, a-at least she’s feeling better, right?”
“This calls for Plan A.”
“Wasn’t Plan A to have Rina sed-“
“That was Plan B.”
“Then why did you mention it earlier?”
“Because I realized I should have
started with that since it would have been hilarious to watch.”
Rina clenched her teeth.
Leo interrupted her growling. “Hey,
hey! I was only kidding. This new plan has something to do with Forrest’s
bazooka cube.”
Felix sighed. “That’s right… They
just took our weapons. They wouldn't expect a weapon to be inside a toy cube.”
Forrest raised his cube into the
air- or, jail ceiling. “Alright! Anything to quickly find my friends! Oh
Spencer, Sydney, Jess! I’m comin’ for ya!”
Leo covered his mouth. “Stop yelling
so loudly! We have to be smooth about this.”
He headed for the cell bars and he
used his peripheral vision to check the ceilings outside of their cell.
The soldier turned around. “Hey,
what are you looking at?” He said in a rude manner.
“Just admiring the layout of this
building. I’m a carpenter, after all,” He lied.
“Well stop that. You are not allowed
to do anything, not even to admire something from afar. E-Except for me.”
Leo raised his eyebrows. “You want
me to admire you?”
The soldier became annoyed “NO! I
meant only I can admire the
buildings!”
Leo glared at him. “But why did you
say ‘me’? You want to admire yourself?”
“I didn’t say that, damn it! I meant
I want to admire me- UGH. I hate my job. Just shut your mouth and stop
confusing me.”
“That’s cold,” Felix commented.
“Shut your mouth!” The soldier
shouted. He turned back to his post to mind his own business after the group
became quiet.
Leo took a step back and he
whispered to the group, “Alright, there are two cameras on the upper left and
upper right corners. Now, I would have had Forrest use his regular BB guns to
shoot them, but one, they took it away, and two, BB guns aren’t strong enough
to break cameras. Instead, we will have to blast them with the bazooka.”
“But these bars are really narrow
between each other. You can’t shoot with a bazooka like this,” Felix responded.
“Oh there is a way,” Leo said as he
whispered into Forrest’s ears. [End music]
After about a few minutes, they
perfected their plan. Forrest ran up to the bars with his hands behind his
back. [Music 4.2]
“Mister, mister! Guess what?”
“What do you want?”
“These men know where the
infiltrators are!”
Leo gasped. “Wh-What are you
doing?!~”
Felix made the worst astonished
surprise ever. “WAAUH- Don’t tell him about our plaAAaaAAAaaan!”
Forrest smiled. “Nice acting!”
Rina rolled her eyes. “All of you were terrible.”
Forrest spoke over her, “Anyway,
Mister Soldier, I have to whisper their plan to you because they’re gonna kill
me if the Gammel army finds out what these jailers said.”
“Er, alright??” The soldier placed
his head near the cage.
Forrest’s right hand was placed
against the bars and the soldier’s ears. “Well…” It turns out that his right
hand was holding the cube. He put his hand past the cell, pressing a button on
the cube and it inflated, basically punching the soldier on the face.
“Agh!” The soldier said as he
fainted.
Forrest quickly aimed at each
camera. One after another, he exploded each camera which caused a ruckus in the
entire room. Felix knelt down in front of Forrest to rummage into the soldier’s
pockets from behind the bars. The keys were found!
Leo laughed. “Alright, it worked!” [End music]
Felix checked their jail cell as
number 26, and he used the key that was labeled with the same number. As Felix
unlocked the jail cell, a bunch of other men were begging to be set free.
Leo grabbed Rina as he tried to skid
his way through the hallway. “We don’t have time to help others. Let’s go!”
Felix gasped. “You’re right. They
must have done actual bad things…”
Forrest was already up ahead in the
hallway and he spotted someone. “Hey look, Leo! It’s that big guy!”
“Warren?!” Leo snapped. [Music 25.2]
The group headed towards cell number
42. Warren was already sitting down by the window, almost ready to rot away.
His face was filled with sweat and dirt as if he gave up on trying to survive.
Forrest stole the keys from Felix’s
grip.
“H-Hey!” Felix said in surprise.
Forrest used key number 42 to unlock
Warren’s cell. “Heehee!” Forrest gave Warren a huge hug which was odd mostly
because Warren was still taller than Forrest while sitting down on the bed.
“What in the world?” Warren had an
uncertain look on his face. “Please, do not waste more time on strangers whom
you have barely met. You must escape without me. I have done a wrong deed for ‘exploiting’
information from my own side of the army.”
“I dunno what you just said about ‘exploding’
info stuff, but who cares! Let’s go!”
Rina said quietly, “I so want to
correct what you just said…”
Forrest grabbed Warren’s left hand.
“Come onnnnnn, let’s goooo!! Why aren’t you moving?!”
Warren was close to tears. “Wh-Why…
Why do you care so much?”
Forrest stomped his foot. “Because
you’re trustable and a good friend! You told us the truth about the Gammel
army. We don’t know each other much, but we might as well start today! You
shouldn’t choose to die. No one should. Besides, it’s more fun when we are in
danger. It just keeps us going!”
Warren was amazed by the words of a
child. “Hmph. That is quite a surprise… I should take advice from little kids
more often.” He finally stood up. “I will only go because someone in this world
really wants me to leave this place. For now, I will join you, but most likely
only until we successfully escape together.”
“Only until then??” Forrest whined.
Leo shook his head. “Let’s not push
it, Forrest. We’re going to help him escape, but he chooses his path after
escaping.”
“I thank you humbly, kind sir.”
Warren bowed in front of everyone.
The group of five continued to make
their way down the hall and Forrest kept looking through each cell, hoping to
find his three friends.
A New Party Member!
Translating the Chivalrous
~ Bafuul – east wing ~
Lydia made her way up to the first
floor, but she had no idea where she was running now that she forgot her way in
from before. She noticed there were a bunch of offices. In the interior of
Bafuul, the east wing was about a mile long and the west wing was the same.
However, the east wing was for office and control rooms. The west wing, base,
and second floors, were typically for the prisoners. Each end was like a hallway
that looked quite similar to a regular school building’s interior. [End music]
A bunch of soldiers peered out of
their offices. Er… actually, every single office door opened. [Music 4.3]
Lydia came to a stop. “U-Um…”
How did they all know she was making
her way to this hallway?
One soldier laughed. “You didn’t
think Sir Wolfram would alert us the moment the security guards saw you on
camera, breaking free?!”
“My blood is boiling…” A female said
from very far away. Her voice was loud that it echoed across the hallway. “I
can feel her essence nearby, and I will smash every bits of her until she’s
dead! Nyahahahha!!!!” Her laughter was followed by a bunch of panicking and
screaming.
The soldiers became confused. This
wasn’t a part of their trap.
Lydia trembled. “That doesn’t sound
very good either…”
The alarm from above sounded. “Stop
both the Obsidian and the woman in the east wing! There are a bunch of you.
Keep at it!”
~ Bafuul – west wing ~
At the west wing nearby the upward
staircase, the group of five made a sudden stop after hearing the
announcements.
Felix turned to Rina with a smile,
“That means Lydia was set free somehow!”
Rina tried to smile back at him.
“Y-Yeah, heh.”
Lydia's Personality, Again
Forrest was in front of the group,
but the moment he reached the top of the steps, he made a sudden trip.
Warren tried to help him. “Master
Forrest, are you alright?”
Forrest turned around with another
bruise to his face. “Beheh… I’m bokay.”
“Master Forrest?” Leo raised an
eyebrow.
Felix was about to grab his crescent
blade, but he realized nothing was in his sheath. “Damn it, we don’t have our
weapons.” He glared over at the only person who refused to move away from the
west wing.
Forrest pointed at the person. “It’s
that boy!”
Bailey’s head turned. “H-Huh?!”
Jess quickly grabbed onto the bars.
“That voice!”
Forrest ran closer to Bailey, but
Bailey quickly made a bunch of purplish holographic swords appear, surrounding
his or her own entire body.
“Hey, what’s the big idea?”
“How did that kid even do that?”
Felix asked.
“Stay back,” Bailey commanded.
Bailey’s voice trembled in fear.
Jess called out to the group.
“Forrest, are you there?!”
Bailey gasped. “You know that boy?!”
“That’s the one I was talking about!
Hehe.” Jess giggled.
Bailey sighed, looking up at the
camera. Forrest took out his bazooka and Bailey was going to attack, but
Forrest quickly shot the camera.
Bailey almost fell over from the
explosion, but Jess helped the child up from behind the cage. Thanks to this, Bailey
knew it was safe to help Jess out of the cage. Bailey took the key from one of
the pockets and then used it on the cell, 205. [End music]
Jess was amazed. “You’re actually
going to set us free?” [Music 12.1]
Bailey blushed, looking away. It’s
only because you are all children. There is possibly no way that you could pull
something so bad that you would be sent to prison for life.”
Jess nodded. “Thank you so much,
Bailey. Do not be alarmed by Forrest. He is a nice person.”
Forrest ran towards Jess to hug her.
“I’m so glad to see you!!”
Spencer and Sydney joined their
group hug. Bailey stood there awkwardly.
“You two are here too!” Forrest
almost cried. “It’s so nice to see you are all safe. I tried so hard to find
you ever since I was at the Lake City Prima. That’s when I met this boy.”
“See?! I told you!!” Spencer whined.
Sydney rolled her eyes again. “Ugh,
Bailey is a girl. I swear.”
Jess interrupted their little
reunion. “We all need to get out of here.”
“But how?” Spencer said with a runny
nose.
Bailey coughed. “Um, there was a
ship that took me here in the first place. The central hallway connected
between the wings should take you to the airship station. It is pretty small
and can fit only about four little planes.”
Forrest hugged Bailey. “Thanks so
much!”
Felix said to Rina, “Hopefully Lydia
is there.” He was also worried about Clyde and seeing his own father, but to
make Rina feel better, he only mentioned Lydia for her sake.
The main group ran ahead and the two
youngest children followed along. Forrest turned around and waved at Jess and
Bailey, “You two should come along! We really need to hurry. After that, we’ll
talk more!”
As Forrest moved on ahead, Jess
began to run, but she made a stop after noticing that Bailey didn’t move.
“You are not coming?”
“My duty is to serve the Gammel
army. The only thing I can assist you with is getting you out of here. If it is
okay, I will say that your friends have taken over. Master Magnus will not give
me any penalty as a new member.”
Jess grinned. “Are you sure it’s
okay?” Jess noticed Bailey still had a demented, grim expression, almost
seemingly unmovable. “I need to ask you a question first.” Bailey listened to
her. “What happened to y-“
“Jess, Bailey!! Come on, let’s go!”
Forrest called out.
Jess walked closer to Bailey to give
a soft hug. Bailey blushed.
“H-Huh?! What’s that for?”
“It’s my way of praying for your
safety. It helps keep the both of us calmer – knowing that our share of warmth
will be remembered and cherished, forever.”
“Forever…” Bailey repeated.
“I want to see you again someday,”
Jess said. “Happier.”
Bailey made a loud gasp. Jess began
to run towards the central hallway and Bailey stood there alone in despair and
confusion. [End music]
~ Bafuul – east wing ~
Garnett hacked and slashed through
each enemy who got in her way with almost no effort at all besides running
straight through. Lydia watched from afar but all she could see were flying
soldiers who were thrown against the ceiling. [Music 25.3]
“How is she that strong?” Lydia said
in fear. “That makes no sense.” She readied her fists, wondering if her martial
arts were even good enough to reach Garnett without getting struck.
In distraction, both of Lydia’s arms
were caught by soldiers on each side. A female soldier pushed Lydia back.
“Do not move!”
“Agh!” Lydia yelped. “Stop it!”
By then, all of the soldiers in
front of Garnett were on the ground, screaming in pain, and screaming for their
mothers.
“Lookie here, only two more soldiers
to go.” Garnett rose her axe.
Lydia closed her eyes. “Stop
it!!!!!”
Garnett thrashed her axe against the
ground and the floor crackled and separated into two. Both ends of the rolling
floors past the soldiers. The wave from the axe and rocks pushed the soldiers
behind and Lydia was the only one standing.
“Saved the best for last, hehe!
Prepare to die, fiend!”
Lydia panicked. “Why do you hate me
so much?! I don’t understand!”
“Just the sight of you makes me
sick!”
“Is that it?”
“Do I need a better reason?” She
rose her axe.
Lydia took a step back. “(How do I
escape this one?!)”
~ Bafuul – central hallway ~
The main group of five including the
three children made their way to the hallway. There were about ten soldiers
guarding the mini airships at this point. The rest were busy at the east wing –
well, they’re pretty much out cold thanks to a certain someone. Only four of
the five airships docked within the little room.
Leo still had Rina on his back. He
was at the back of the line, but he told everyone to step back and wait until
the soldiers were not looking. In front of them was a circular room, of course,
with four ships as mentioned. All the ships were positioned in a way where none
were placed on the exact center. There was an empty space for a fifth airship
which wasn’t present. As Leo reached the front of the line, he had an idea. [End music]
Forrest took out his cubed bazooka
and he aimed at the camera up on the corner where no soldier stood. [Music 19.3]
“Will this really work?” He asked.
Leo shook his head. “Once you shoot
the camera, all of the soldiers will walk across the circular hall in front of
us. With the clearing, you should blast the ground below them just so you don’t
kill them, but at least drop them to the bottom floor.”
Felix scratched his head. “Er, wouldn’t
that injure them for months?”
“If they’re unlucky,” Leo shrugged. The
group glared at him, confused about his sudden change in mercy. “Hey, it’s
better than killing them.”
“Gee, you’re such a kind soul,”
Felix said with sarcasm.
Warren coughed. “If I were you, I’d
just slash them into pieces and then burn them in a fire.”
Felix gulped. “L-Lieutenant! I
didn’t know you were so vulgar.”
“I am?”
Forrest interrupted them with a
whisper, “Bang!” He said as he shot with his bazooka towards the camera. Felix
fell over from the unexpected startup.
The soldiers began asking each other
about the explosion, but they decided to check the wall where Forrest shot.
Forrest ran into the circular central hall and then he shot the ground below
all ten of the soldiers.
“Waaaah!” Most of them yelled as
they fell to the bottom floor.
Forrest raised his hands. “Woohoo!
We finally reached the airships!”
Felix laughed. “Alright! We still
need lots more to do here, but we’re pretty much halfway done with our business
in Bafuul. Let’s all hide in the airship and plan our next tactic really
quick!”
The group agreed as they all ran
into the airship together. Halfway done through Bafuul, but there is still lots
to do… [End music]
