Alright! This past weekend, I was able to update a lot more for this website.
Episodes 6 and 7 are now up!
All character episode appearance lists are updated.
Felix's character page is now complete and detailed.
There is a multimedia playlist on the extras page. More information about it is posted there!
What I still need to update on are:
Episodes 4-7's optional scenes.
Complete the opening drawing for episodes 1-13 (which will be covered during Thanksgiving week)
Add Professor Nell's character page.
Finish every other character's information on their character page.
Last thing I want to add: Episode 8 is one of my favorites in terms of early episodes. The story gets way better later, but episode 8 begins the group's bonding moments as they travel together to work for the same problem.
From now on, we will see more of Forrest, who now permanently joins the group with Felix, Lydia, and Rina!
~ Town of Igor – Eastern District – Talbot’s Lab ~
Meanwhile as Felix, Rina, and
Lydia were facing against Professor Talbot, the lesser professors began
panicking as they ran out of the hallways and evacuated themselves from the
building. [Music 7.1]
Rina threw a knife at Talbot but he
created a ricochet past her head. The knife released an explosion when it
landed against a wall, but Rina immediately commanded it to return into her
grip.
“Interesting that you can control
the aim of your knives,” Talbot chuckled.
Felix fell from the sudden
explosion. “H-How did you counter it?!”
“I study magic as well. Although my
magic may not be authentic like this young child here, I can still make use of
what I have.”
“Ergh…” Rina clenched her teeth.
“Don’t call me a child! You don’t seem that much older.”
“Is that a compliment?” He teased.
He then changed the subject. “Why don’t we make a deal? I will give you the
shard, and you should leave in one piece.”
Rina turned to Felix, giving him a
certain stare. Felix knew what she was thinking, and they began to make their
move. Felix ran towards Talbot first while Talbot’s knives were being thrown.
Felix covered himself with his crescent blade while Rina pushed Lydia off to
the side. Following the sequence, Rina ran past Talbot and she examined the
whole lab only to find another, yet shinier object on the table. It turns out
that the shard Talbot was holding was a fake bait in order for Rina and Felix
to turn themselves in.
“The real indigo shard!” She took off her backpack as quick as she
could when Felix and Talbot were busy fighting each other.
Talbot turned around. “Hey,
that’s…!”
Rina carried her bag onto her back
again after placing the shard inside. She threw another knife by surprise and
it cut Talbot’s hips, at least only lightly.
Rina ran past him and she grabbed
onto Lydia’s hand. “Let’s go!”
Felix turned around. “Y-You attacked
him!”
“He’s evil. It happens!”
Felix noticed a small amount of
blood dripping from him. “He’s… bleeding.”
Talbot tried to get up. “I know you,
young child!” He said to Rina. “I know exactly who you are!”
Felix turned to Rina, and then
Talbot simultaneously. “Huh?”
“Hurry the hell up, Suspenders! If
you’re planning to tag along, you might as well not fall behind!”
“F-Fine!” Felix followed her out of
the laboratory. [End music]
~ Road to Kyrie - Bridge ~
The three teenagers were becoming
exhausted from their run. Finally, they made their way out of the town safely
even though they left a commotion back at the laboratory.
“How did you know he had a fake
shard?”
“He was being dumb,” Rina replied.
“Why would he give us the shard when he wants
the shard? That made no sense to me, and that’s when I thought things were
getting too easy. Now come on, hurry up and take the shard out of my backpack
so we can give it to Lydia!”
Felix paused at first. “Hey Rina?”
“What is it now?”
“He said he knew you. What was that
all about?”
“I don’t know what he meant. Maybe
he’s crazy.”
Felix took the shard out of Rina’s
backpack. “Oh, okay then. You know, didn’t the books at the library say
something about the indigo shard?”
Rina shrugged. “I don’t remember
what it was.”
“Me neither. What does the color
represent? We can guess.”
“We don’t have time for that. Let’s
just hand it over to Lydia so that the shard gets installed or whatever!”
“F-Fine!”
Lydia grabbed onto the shard and her
eyes widened. It was flashing in indigo, mixing with the blue colors of truth.
After about a good ten seconds of blue and indigo aura, she closed her eyes.
“Lydia?” Rina tilted her head. “So,
what did you get?”
Tears came out of Lydia’s eyes. Her
nose was clogging and she began to sniffle. [Music 6.1]
“Did that shard hurt you?!” Felix
panicked.
“Oh crap, we shouldn’t have
installed the shard yet! From those years, we must have given her the Fear
shard, which reminds me that there is a Courage shard. We should have installed
them both at the same time.”
“Uh oh…”
Rina suddenly yelled at Felix, “Why
did you give her the shard, Suspenders?!”
“Y-You told me to!”
Lydia fell to the ground. She rubbed
her eyes. “I… I’m a terrible person!”
“No you’re not, Lydia! You didn’t do
anything wrong!”
Lydia shook her head. “Yes, I did!”
“She did?” Felix asked.
“I did!” Lydia went on.
Rina tried to pull Lydia’s hands
away, “It’s okay. We can get through this, Lydia.”
Lydia screamed, “No! I can’t. I’m a
horrible human being! I… I killed…”
Felix took a step back. “She killed
who now?”
“I killed… the ants that I’ve been
stepping on all this time! All my life, ants have died and it was my entire
fault!”
Felix’s heart dropped. “Excuse me?”
Lydia shook her head. “I don’t think
I can live with myself if this keeps happening!”
Rina rolled her eyes. “Great, a mix
of truth and fear at the same time. She would
apologize for killing ants…”
“Really?”
“Seems like her to do so. Whatever
though. She’s just going to have to shut up while we’re going to sneak through
Kyrie.”
“That’s such a mean thing to say to
me!” Lydia cried even louder.
“Cool, that sounds easy,” Felix said
to Rina sarcastically. [End music]
A Terrible Joke
Lydia: I feel great. Felix: You know what's funny? Lydia doesn't have a shard to laugh or smile yet. Rina: You know what's funny? Not that. ^ Felix: Wow. I bet Lydia would have thought it was funny. Lydia: *crying* Rina: Look what you did, Suspenders!! Your joke was so bad that it made her cry! Felix: But she has the Fear shard! She's not crying from my joke. Lydia: I-If I didn't exist, you would have made such a terrible joke. *cries* Felix: Eh?!?! Rina: Phoooey. Can you imagine her using both shards to say such a thing? Good job, Lydia. Felix: That wasn't nice at all! Lydia: *stops crying* I need to poop. Felix: I'm even more at a loss on what kind of person Lydia is...
~ Kyrie – eastern district ~
Remember the eastern gates? Yeah,
it’s still there. Well, half of it at least. Now, any outsiders can just come
in and take over, but Kyrie is in no condition for outsiders to actually want
the city. After seeing how “different” Kyrie has been since the last time Rina
and Felix left, things have changed drastically.
“What happened here?” Felix asked
out loud.
An old man with a cart of fruit
walked up to them. “You might as well walk away now. There is no longer
anything to buy or sell around here.” He pointed at the hills, “Right now, the
only safe place is the western uplands. The whole city itself is in slight
destruction. Fifty percent of the buildings have collapsed rooftops and several
people are now casualties.”
“How is that possible?!”
“They say something caused the giant
bear monster to appear out of the cavern. It returned to its cave, but people
are now frightened that it could come back.”
Rina examined the whole city from
her angle. Families were outside their destructed homes. Slight flames still
existed on some houses and trees but they were minor, as right now, the smoke
around the city is the main focus. Cemented floors were crackled apart and you could
actually see dirt from below. There were loud commotions everywhere, so you
could barely pinpoint which parts have been saved and which parts were worse
off.
Lydia began to cry. She fell to the
floor dramatically. “I-It’s my fault! I didn’t stop Felix from making Rina
shoot a fireball at the cavern!”
The old man took a step back. “You
three are responsible for this?!”
Rina gasped. “Lydia, shut up!”
Felix looked away in shame. “(Even
Lydia is blaming me… That’s how she truly feels.)”
The man began revealing to the city
folk about the three teenagers being the cause of the bear monster in the
cavern.
Rina grabbed Lydia’s hand, “Alright,
we just got here and I was hoping they wouldn’t bother us anymore, but it seems
we are still the problem. We’re getting out of here!”
Felix followed them. “I need to go
to. I’m not staying around here!”
~ Kyrie – south district ~
The only unexplored district left is
the southern portion of Kyrie. This leads to a forest, however. Nobody would
dare to go through there for several reasons. Do Rina and Felix even know where
they were going and what they were going to put up with in the forest?
Felix complained. “Seriously, why
are we always running away? I’m tired of this.”
“You better get used to it.” [Music 4.3]
A high-pitched voice began yelling.
“I finally found them! The culprits! The fiends! The antagonists!”
Rina turned around and she could see
Forrest standing with his two friends, Sydney and Spencer, on a rooftop. The
wind past through all of their color-coded capes.
Forrest smiled. “Haha! You best look
down on me now that we’re on the rooftop!”
Well, the rooftop was actually on
the ground, due to household destructions.
“Impressive…” Rina lied. “You’re
like what? Five years old? You shouldn’t even know half the words you’re
saying,” she insulted him.
“Those are such treechoros words!”
“You mean ‘treacherous’? Damn it,
kid! You’re already annoying me,” Rina readied her knives.
Felix had his hand over Rina’s eyes.
“Wait, they’re just children.” He then spoke to Forrest, “Where is Jess?”
“Like you’d care! You two ran away
after being known as fugitives, huh! Get ‘em, squad!”
Sydney used a BB gun and shot Rina’s
right hand. She staggered and Spencer ran up to them. Felix didn’t react much
as they were just children, but Spencer surprised the three teenagers with a
rope. The two other children charged with ropes as well and the teenagers were
caught by surprise.
“What the hell is this?!” Rina
shouted.
A few soldiers appeared from the
sides of the scene.
Forrest raised his hands. “Yes! I
caught the culprits. I caught the bad guys!!”
Felix tried to stand up even with
his arms tied together. Lydia suddenly kicked him without thinking, and then
she cried and apologized immediately after. [End music]
Sydney said to Forrest, “Are you
sure they’re the culprits?? They seem kinda weak to me.”
Rina pouted. “It’s just Suspenders
who is weak here.”
“I must thank these children for
their support.” A woman’s voice appeared in between the soldiers.
Sydney and Spencer took several
steps back, afraid of the woman. Forrest tried to stand without fear.
One soldier called out to her, “Lady
Floir, these are the culprits who snuck into the battleships and destroyed
Kyrie. They even have the Obsidian with them.”
“She has a name,” Rina snickered.
“What a group,” Floir chuckled.
“Leader’s orders though – we must take the children too.”
Forrest froze. “Wait, huh??”
Felix called out to Forrest, “Run
away!”
Rina said off to the side, “Why
would they want the children?”
Floir pointed her halberd weapon
towards Forrest’s face. “You heard me.”
“But he’s just a child! You can’t do
this!” Felix began panicking. He shuffled with the ropes and Lydia continued to
cry.
Both Spencer and Sydney made a run
for it, and the rest of the soldiers tried to chase after them. The only person
remaining from the Gammel army was Floir. She still pointed her halberd at
Forrest, ordering him to step closer to the three teenagers so that she could
group them together and easily ship them to prison.
“Hm. This is such a childish group.
I remember it only started out with this teenager boy here.” She glared at
Felix, remembering his face from when he snuck out of the battleship alone. “Now,
we got the childish boy, the sassy queen, and the Obsidian herself.”
Felix stomped his foot. “It’s Felix.
And where is Clyde?! What happened to my mom?!”
“Oh don’t you worry, she is safe.
Clyde on the other hand… He is held in custody. We might even force him on an
expedition to Ouli Brye.”
Forrest shivered. “O-Ouli Brye…
That’s when things started happening to my parents! That’s a suspicious desert
city south of here!”
“That is correct. It is occupied by
the Lennox army, but we are going to make truce with them because Ouli Brye is
on the edge and in between both governments: Gammel and Lennox. But enough
information, I need you all to come with me.”
Rina tried to position her palms
together but they were tightly sealed by the ropes. “Where are you taking us?”
“Bafuul, the largest prison in the
world.”
~ Kyrie – western uplands ~
“Ooh, this is a beautiful place,”
Lydia said as she suddenly cried, “I wish I could roam freely, but these ropes
– they’re too tight!” She fell to the ground, falling into tears.
“What in the world is the Obsidian
doing?” Floir asked in anger.
“I told you she has a name, damn it!”
Rina said without fear.
Although Forrest was free to run, he
hesitated to escape due to Floir’s threatening demeanor.
“I’m supposed to be the hero…”
Forrest was close to tears as well.
From the distance, the group could
see a small helicopter flying from above.
“Land it now!” Floir ordered. “We
are taking these children directly to Bafuul.”
“Sir, yes ma’am! Uh, I mean yes
ma’am sir! I mean…!” A soldier began to sweat.
“HURRY UP.”
As the group of four were making
their way towards the helicopter, they could feel a rumbling vibration below
them.
Rina turned around. “Damn it, Felix,
you and your hunger needs to stop!”
“W-What? I mean I’m hungry, but
that’s not my stomach!”
“Whatever it is, it’s pissing me off
so much right now. I’m not in the mood.”
Lydia cried again. “Rina is angry
and it’s all because I’m not able to make her happy!”
“Wow, even she blames herself on
things she didn’t do,” Felix commented.
“You have weird friends,” Forrest
said to Felix.
“Heh, they’re not really friends.”
Forrest blushed, forgetting that he
was supposed to hate Felix. “I-I mean, I’m not talking to you!” He turned away
and closed his eyes. [Music 7.2]
The rumbling was heavier this time,
and everyone could hear screaming from all over the city. Floir turned around
and noticed a large bear was coming closer.
“What in the world?!”
A young girl was on top of the bear,
trying her best to grip on.
“Forrest, now!” A young girl
screamed.
Forrest shot Floir with his BB gun.
Floir turned back to him.
“You ignoramus child!!”
Forrest jumped for joy. “Jess?! What are you
doing here?”
Jess, while struggling with the
bear, said to him, “I saw everything at the south district! I had to find a
better and most inevitable way to stop this woman, and I couldn’t do it alone.
So, I annoyed the bear.”
Forrest became frustrated. “You
what? You’re making the city get even more destroyed though!”
“This is not about the city. This is
about keeping that girl safe!” Jess pointed at Lydia. “I heard lots of stuff
from this Floir lieutenant. They plan to use Lydia over and over by taking all
the Obsidian energy out of her!”
Rina thought to herself, “For every
breathing moment, Lydia regains Obsidian energy, and as long as she lives, they
will keep torturing her.”
Felix tried to move out of the ropes
again. “Then why kill all the Obsidians if you needed their energy this much?”
Floir looked away. “For most of our
research, we have accidentally used too much of the energy. In order to combine
proper chemicals, we must delicately dip a small amount of Obsidian energy into
our research.”
Rina clenched her teeth. “So your
stupid government screwed up the research, and are now forcing Lydia’s torture
just so you can continue with the projects?!”
Suddenly, Jess fell about eight feet
from the giant bear (the bear, by the way, was actually three times taller than
eight feet). She was temporarily unable to get up at this point. Forrest tried
to shoot the giant bear with his BB gun, but nothing worked. [End music]
“Quickly, free your friends,
Forrest!”
“They’re not my friends!!”
“Friends or not, save them. Do it
for me!” [Music 3.3 - skip 45 seconds]
The giant bear roared and even Floir
fell to her knees. Forrest was already on the floor, crawling as he turned to
the group. Rina pointed at her pocket for a knife and Forrest quickly took the
knife before Floir could get back up. Forrest felt a little concern when he
partially freed the teenagers, but there was no time to think. The bear made
another roar and Forrest accidentally fell, tripping over the three teenagers. As
a result, the group of four were rolling down the hill. Next, the giant bear
scratched the helicopter into pieces and the men fell. Luckily, the helicopter
was not too far from the ground, so they were only slightly injured. Just then,
the helicopter itself exploded.
The group of four screamed as they
were falling down a long hill to who-knows-where. [End music]
~ Kyrie – southern portion - ??? ~
This was the strangest part of all.
The group of four seemed to have landed in an unoccupied and unknown area of
Kyrie; at least, hopefully it is still Kyrie. The only thing that could be
heard was water rushing through a river which led to a distant route. Forrest
slowly opened his eyes with the knife still in his hands. He noticed that Rina
was sitting with her hands locked together while Felix and Lydia were still out
cold. [Music 1.4]
Forrest quickly sliced the last
remaining ropes out of all the teenagers and he handed the knife back to Rina.
Rina snatched it back and looked
away. “You’re an idiot.”
“Huh?” Forrest wanted to cry.
“You wanted to be a hero by joining
the Gammel army, yet you didn’t even stop to question their real motives?” Rina
scowled at him and Forrest still said nothing. “A hero has to know both sides
of the damn story. You know nothing, and you’re just a child.”
Forrest turned away. “I only wanted
to do what was right.”
“Well, did you ask us why we were considered fugitives? Did
you even consider our situation? Even your girlfriend back there was saving us
because at least she understood!”
“She’s not my girlfriend!! She’s our
leader. I just… didn’t know you guys were good. I’m sorry.”
“Sorry isn’t going to cut it. You
know what? You and Felix are both slowing me down.”
Rina grabbed Lydia who was still out
cold. “I’m going on this journey by myself because all you guys ever do is
cause more trouble when it’s not even needed.”
As Rina disappeared into the
distance, Forrest was only left with Felix who was unconscious through the
whole conversation. Forrest sat next to Felix, poking his cheeks with a twig.
“Mr. Felix? Are you awake?”
There was no answer.
“Hrmph…” Forrest groaned as he
became bored.
About ten minutes later, Felix
finally woke up and Forrest quickly grabbed him.
“You’re okay, Mr. Felix!!”
“Huh? Oh, yeah. I guess I am. Where
did the ropes go?”
“Don’t worry about that. I took them
away.”
Felix looked around. “And where’s
Lydia and Rina?”
“They left…”
“They what?!”
“That Rina girl said I was slowing
her down, so she took off without us. It’s okay… She doesn’t need someone weak
like me to help her anyway.”
Felix patted Forrest on the
shoulders. “No, don’t say that. You were just misunderstood.”
Forrest began hugging Felix in
tears, “I’m scared. I wanted to be a hero, but instead, I did the wrong thing
and became the bad guy. I don’t know where my friends are, and now someone
tells me I’m slowing her down. What do I do??”
Felix tried to give him a smile.
“It’s fine, Forrest. I’m your friend too, and I’m here. I’m just surprised
you’re talking to me again, haha.”
“What? Oh… um…” Forrest blushed, pretending
to look away.
“Don’t worry about it. We’re in this
together! At least you’re nicer than Rina and not capable of beating me up like
Lydia does. Why don’t we find them?”
Forrest pointed towards a dark and
bushy area towards the trees. “They went that way, but why do you want to go
after them?”
Felix shrugged. “I dunno, to be
honest. I can’t find a place to live in peace because everywhere I go, I’m
considered a fugitive now. Instead, I might as well pass time and help the
girls out while I find a safe place to stay in. I’m also interested in going to
that Ouli Brye place to find my friend, Clyde. What are you going to do?”
Forrest sighed. “I don’t know… I
didn’t have anywhere else to go to anymore.”
“You can come with me and along the
way, we can figure something out for you. I know you want to see your friends
again, right?”
“Yeah, I really do! Can I do that
now?”
“Well, it might not be safe to go
back to Kyrie, as it’s not safe for me to go back to the village to see my
mom.”
Forrest shook his head. “I’ll just
have to deal with it, like a real grown up, right? I can always come back when
things calm down, or when I’m stronger!”
Felix agreed with him. “That’s the
spirit! Now you’re thinking about the right things in life. To me, you are a hero.”
“Really?”
“Yes. It’s the thought that counts.
Whether you make a mistake or not, as long as you want to be a hero, that’s all
that matters for true heroes.”
“Whooooooaaa… That’s so cool! Thanks
Mr. Felix!!”
“O-Oh, and, you can just call me
Felix from now on. You make me sound like I’m as old as my dad.”
“Okay, sorry, Mr. Felix! So, we’re
going into the dark patchy stuff, right?”
“Yeah. I think it could be a forest.
First off, you have to be extra careful because that BB gun isn’t going to do
much.”
Forrest chuckled and then he
snorted. “I know. Jess told me we’re not old enough for real weapons. But if I
were to get one, I’d get the giantest bazooka ever!”
“That’s a really strange choice of
weapon for someone as short as you, haha!”
Forrest: Hm, hm-hm!~ Felix: You seem happier than usual. Forrest: Of course, Mr. Felix! We get to be friends again! Felix: Why wouldn't we? Forrest: Because I ran away from you before... I didn't think you'd forgive me. Felix: Aw, haha! I make friends with those who are nice to me. Forrest: Then what about that other girl in red?? Felix: She's not my friend! Forrest: Why are you always with her? Felix: I'm not! Well I am, but it's not because we're friends! Forrest: Do you like her? Felix: No! Forrest: *gasp* You're sticking around because you like her other friend! Felix: Lydia?! That's not it either! I just have nothing better to do. Forrest: Wow. You must have your pri-or-ri-ties all jacked up. Felix: Who taught you to talk that way?! Forrest: Not Sydney.
~ ??? - Waterfall ~
It was an extremely short walk from
where the group of four split. Actually, it only took about five minutes of
walking to find a waterfall! Both Felix and Forrest took a step at the ledges
next to the waterway. Down below was a view of a large forest. There was one
patch of lake water and the rest were just covered in treetops. There was a
rainbow in the sky in front of them and they could see hawks flying past them.
Mountains were surrounding the wide forest from afar.
“Wow… how do we get down there?”
Rina appeared further from the side.
“Seriously? You two are still here?”
A Skilled Babysitter
Felix: Why are you here by the waterfall? Rina: I thought maybe jumping down this waterfall would be much better than dealing with you two. Lydia: You didn't say that. You said you don't know your way around here. Rina: *blushes* Lydia, be quiet! Felix: Looks like you can't lie around us as long as Lydia is around. Rina: Um, hello? I can just lie to Lydia. Lydia: *tearing up* Why would you lie to me?! Why, Rina?! TELL ME. Forrest: That girl is weird. Lydia: *stops crying* At least I am not the one with blue hair. Forrest: Eh?! *begins to cry* Rina: Oh boy... Literally. Felix: We shouldn't be crying out loud like that! The soldiers near Kyrie might hear us. Rina: Great babysitting skills, Suspenders. 'Stop crying!' Felix: I didn't mean it like that!
“I like your hair,” Lydia commented
on Forrest’s blue hair.
“Huh? Um, thanks!”
She suddenly cried. “It reminds me
of what I used to hug to sleep with, but I left it at home!” She crouched down,
sniffling and covering her face in sadness.
Rina became angry. “Damn it. You
made her cry again!”
Felix stood in front of Forrest.
“Don’t yell at him. It wasn’t his fault.”
Lydia suddenly stopped crying. “It
wasn’t that boy’s fault. It was his hair!!” She cried again.
“Well, anyway… This is Forrest.”
Rina looked away. “I don’t care.”
Forrest frowned and they heard
snickering from behind the bushes.
Felix took out his crescent blade.
“What was that?”
Rina had her knives ready as well. A
mountain lion appeared from the bushes.
“Just one? Hah!” [Music 1.5]
About three more appeared from the
sides and they began charging at the group of four. Each mountain lion pounced
on a different person but before they could bite or scratch, they all fell over
and down into the waterfall!
As they were falling, Felix shouted
to the group, “Why do we keep faaaaaaalllliiiiiiiing!!!!!!!!?????”
His voice dispersed into the
distance. [End music]

~~~
Next time on The Obsidian Tale, we are finally going to explore a natural habitat for the first time, AND with a full group of four. The group doesn't seem to get along at all, but we'll see how that will work out. The forest is much bigger than we think, so let's see how these teenagers are going to deal with an overnight adventure!
I apologize for the sudden hiatus again.
1. I didn't know I was going to have an exam this past Friday, but that's done. Yay!
2. I got one of the biggest fever/migraines. My limbs were aching and it was the first time where I've felt like not going to class but I forced myself to.
I'm still really sick but I'm going to try my best to update!
~ Town of Igor – Central District - Passport Office ~
Only a few years ago, the Town of
Igor begun its creation and civilians set afoot in hopes of a new society that
differs from the common villages and cities elsewhere. You would think that a
new town would be beautified almost everywhere, but in places such as the
passport office… well…
“This place looks kind of run-down,”
Felix said to himself.
He stood by the doorway. There were
a few tumbleweeds passing behind him. It was so dead quiet that you could
easily imagine tumbleweeds having a voice of their own. Felix slowly opened the
door and a female worker rummaged in front of him. [Music 6.1]
“Hi, hi!~ Welcome to the passport
office!”
She wore a white marine-looking cap
with an unusual pink jumpsuit. Yes, the garment even squeaked with each motion
she made. She looked as if she was sweating, but that’s nothing to consider,
especially since she must have constantly ran all over the office to guide
those who needed passports.
“Uh… Hey. How do I get a passport
for the Town of Igor?”
“Yes, yes! Passports are important.
I will take you to the examination room!”
As she began pushing him from
behind, he tried to stop her persistency. He was forced into a room and lights
were shining on him.
“Good, good! You are now ready to
take the exam. Question number one!”
“W-Wait! Shouldn’t I get a pamphlet
or something to study with?”
“Oh, oh! No worries, good sir! I
assure you the questions are quite simple. As I was saying, we shall begin the
examination!”
The worker unnecessarily had a
microphone in her hand and her voice echoed across the room. The only other
person in the office was a sleeping man at the reception desk outside the
examination room.
“So, so! First question: At what
year, month, day, and hour did Igor’s death take place?”
Felix paused. “Excuse me?”
“Uh oh, uh oh! Wrong answer!
Question number two: What is Igor’s ethnicity?”
Felix gasped. “What?! I don’t
think-…”
“Hm, hm? You don’t think? You must
think in order to pass! Final question, if you get this correct, then you get a
passport!”
“What was the point of the first two
questions then?!”
“Yes, yes! That is the correct
answer! One of Igor’s greatest philosophies was to question the difficulty of
certain questions especially when irrelevant. You have surely studied Igor’s
philosophical novel, haven’t you?”
The strange worker took out a camera
and captured a picture of Felix with a confused and disturbed look.
“Nice, nice! I will screen this
right away! Come back to the reception desk for your ID!”
Felix gave a smirk. “Oh, okay sure.”
Felix made his way out to the front
desk and the sleeping man was snoring. As loud as the female worker was with
the passport machine, the man didn’t wake up.
“Here, here! It is complete!”
“But my face…” Felix sighed. “That’s
fine. Thank you.” [End music]
~ Town of Igor – Eastern District – Geologic Laboratory ~
Felix headed towards the Eastern
District of the town and from a close distance, he could see a large laboratory
and a courtyard filled with children running around. Their own parents were off
to the side, watching them. Each side of the courtyard had a fountain of cupid
pouring water out of a pot. The grass looked fake; it might as well be. Some of
the children used patches of grass as hair. At one point, Felix could see a
mother slap her child in the face as he fell to the ground crying.
Shivering, Felix tried to ignore the
“peaceful” town that he had envisioned. The front gate was already left open
and there were no guards or anyone on patrol.
Upon entering the Geologic
Laboratory, the worker at the front desk asked for a passport ID; however, he
looked a little nervous. Felix handed over his passport and the man didn’t
bother to look. He only nodded and allowed Felix through the next room. What
made him so nervous?
Awkwardly, Felix slowly arrived at
the next room of his choice – the library. All he could hear was an aggressive
shuffle between one pile of books and another pile.
“E-Excuse me? Is anyone there?”
Felix asked nervously.
“Stay back!” A female voice
commanded.
“Rina? It’s Felix!” [Music 3.2]
Rina turned around with her teeth
clenched and her eyes in deep anger. Lydia only sat next to her best friend,
pretending to read a book up-side down.
“Huh? Did something happen?”
Rina threw a book towards the other
side of the room. It clashed against the walls.
“These are all filled with
bullshit!”
“What are you talking about? Did you
read all of these already? And how did you get in here without a passport?”
“I threatened the woman at the
passport office.”
Felix realized this must have been
the reason why the woman let him pass so easily. She was afraid of being
threatened again, much like the man at the front desk in the laboratory.
“Do you see what these people are
doing to Lydia?”
“No... You never told me the exact
reason why the army is chasing after you two.”
“Not me. Her,” Rina said. “The
Gammel government is actually a conspiracy. What people don’t know is that the
government is targeting Lydia because she’s different from all of us. I knew
they needed her but I never understood the reason up until now.”
Felix was surprised. “Wait, what do
you mean by ‘different’?”
“Lydia’s spirit is of an Obsidian
descent. Do you know what happened to her family?”
“No, but I’m going to assume you’re
going to tell me.”
“Lots of things happened, actually.
No matter how much I tell Lydia about her past, she can’t seem to remember a
damn thing because that bastard scientist crystallized her memory into a shard!”
She grabbed one of the books on the
floor and she threw it to Felix. “Look at page 64.”
As Felix rummaged through the pages,
he could see an orb filled with seven colors. He first looked at the blue
shard: truth.
“Do you see now? The professors here
in this town must be studying under that mad scientist. These books are recent
studies on the crystallization of Obsidian memories. All Lydia has right now is
the truth shard. The seven shards in order of color is Love, Courage,
Knowledge, Instinct, Truth, Fear, and Sympathy.”
Felix began reading the ‘Fear’ shard
and then he asked, “Why would we want to recover the Fear shard? We can just
recover whatever keeps her strong.”
“Are you an idiot? Read the bottom
of the page. It talks about harmonization. With only Fear, she will fear. But with Courage, that fear
will be protected. If you only have Courage, your determination will be too
strong and reckless without Fear. You need to have both in order to have her
spirit controlled properly. We must
get all seven shards in order to harmonize her personality again.”
Felix closed the book. “Then… why
would they have this book here? It’s supposed to be published before creating
such science.”
“They don’t need to publish
anything. This whole library is an archive of suspicious work. All the
professors here must be plotting something.”
Felix shook his head. “No. That
doesn’t make any sense. The old woman I met at the park told me that Igor was
famous for his geologic work. I have to speak to someone named Professor
Talbot!”
“Professor Talbot? For all we know,
he could be a psychotic man. If you’re still not convinced at the orb
creations, read this other book here.”
Rina threw a different source
towards Felix’s face.
Felix skimmed through the first few
pages. “The Obsidian race is what protects the natural energy of flame. Now
with the source being taken away and stored, we are able to create a large
protection group. However, we are still missing one source. That one small
source blocks our complete extraction of the volcanic energy.”
Felix closed the book. “That was
weird and I don’t get it.”
“The Gammel government is stealing
all the fire spirit for themselves. The only way to take all the energy is to…
cause a genocide.”
“A-A genocide?! Then that means Lydia’s
family…”
“Now
do you understand? The government is after her, claiming to the public that she
is dangerous. But in truth, they only want her source of power in order to
complete the extraction. Right now, the army is still chasing after Lydia in order
to get rid of the evidence while another part of the army is in search of the
shards. What I think is that Lydia will continue to emit Obsidian energy which
is exactly why one half of the government is still after her.”
“They should just give up. We already
have one shard installed into Lydia again.”
Rina shook her head. “I wish it were
that simple, but her mind can be re-extracted, so I have to be extra careful. I
need to get all of those shards, immediately!”
How to Get it On
Lydia: 'How to Get it On'. Gett on what? Rina: Don't read that book! *smacks book down but it conveniently opens* Lydia: That guy is cute. Rina: *quickly closing it* Don't look at that! Lydia: How about this book? 'Love Between XX and XX Chromosomal Bodies-' Rina: Wait a minute, that's- Lydia, don't open that one either! Felix: What are XX chromosomal bodies? Rina: Women, basically. Felix: *blushes* O-Oh! Well then... Lydia: Apples are great too. Rina: *sigh* Sometimes I wish we didn't give her the first shard yet. Lydia: Your hair looks like- Rina: I know, I know: fire. Felix: Fire?! Where?! Rina: Oh shut up, Suspenders!
As Rina was heading for the next
section of books, she examined the title: “Child
Persuasion – The 180 Switch”.
As Rina began reading
thoroughly, Felix watched her and Lydia. Lydia began biting a book that she had
in her hands. Rina’s eyes widened and she was about to speak, but she was
interrupted by another visitor. [End music]
A woman appeared by the automatic
sliding door. She had long, black hair combed to her waist and her round
glasses reflected against the light from the windows. She had a long, white
trench coat with several pieces of papers hanging out of her pockets.
“Who are you?!” Rina readied her
arms for a fireball attack.
“Oh? My name is Professor Nell,” She
smiled while holding onto a clipboard.
Felix placed his arm in front of
Rina. “Wait.”
Rina rolled her eyes. “What is it
now, Suspenders?”
“Professor Nell, I am looking for a
man by the name of Professor Talbot. Do you know where he is?”
Professor Nell began to blush. “Oh
my, yes I do. He is highly looked upon by many in this town. He recently
returned from an exhibition and said he has recovered a nice accessory. I
really hope he is planning a proposal.”
“Wow, this guy’s a real sucker,”
Rina insulted.
“Rina, please,” Felix said. “I need
to talk to him. I need to ask him for the safest places to live in.”
Professor Nell giggled. “I would say
the Town of Igor! It is quite new and peaceful.”
Rina threw a book onto the ground.
“Peaceful? You’re using this place to create your dirty work!”
“Dirty work? Professor Talbot only
ordered me to get books from the shelf to the very left. I see it is one of the
few shelves left intact…”
As she grabbed one of the books,
Rina asked her, “And what topic is that shelf about?” [Music 5.1]
“Weapon and magic synthesis. He
wanted me to focus more on the source of magic and apply it to weapons. I never
asked for the purpose, but as an intern, I want to try my very best and do what
I can in order to become a great geologic professor just like Mr. Talbot, and
of course, Professor Talbot.”
Felix slapped a book out of Lydia’s
hand, a book that she was already chewing on.
Rina gave a sigh. “Geez… So you’re
just an oblivious woman, aren’t you?”
Professor Nell frowned. “I only want
to become the greatest in order to help continue human life across generations.
The world is slowly falling apart because we are using too much natural energy.
I was told in order to start the organization, we must focus on the easiest
portion of nature – fire. This takes place at the Frolix Volcano.”
“You can’t do that! Do you not
realize that in order to do this, it takes the lives of those living as an
Obsidian?! People die, and you’re going to be okay with that?”
Nell became silent. She suddenly
headed for the shelf that she intended to examine.
“That seems like quite a
predicament. This is not the kind of science I was focused to work on, as I am
only a weapon and magic catalyst.”
“Magic?” Felix said slowly, amazed
at the idea of raw natural sources coming out of a person’s own hands, much
like Rina. “Rina, I never asked, but where did you get yours?”
Nell gasped.
Rina clenched her fists. “It’s
something I’m not proud of, but I use it to protect myself.”
“You have the power of natural
magic?!” Nell jumped as she grabbed both of Rina’s hands. “Please, let me study
you!”
“What? No way!”
Felix shook his head. “But that’s impossible.
I’ve only read about magic from mythical books.”
“I didn’t know you were the kind of
guy to read, Suspenders. I thought all villagers were just brainless fools.”
“Well, I don’t read often. It’s the
abandoned house that I always go to that used to have lots of books. Then I
kind of burned them for bonfires.”
“What the hell?!”
“P-Please settle down, you two. I
have a proposal,” Nell suggested. She opened a book on magic catalysts, “I want
to see what would happen if direct magic was placed into a few weapons. If you
follow me to my mini-lab, we can test it out.”
Rina gave a smirk. “Hm, sounds like
a good idea considering that spamming my fireballs would exhaust me more than
using some kind of lame weapon. I might take your offer on that.”
“Thank goodness! Please come with
me!”
The teenagers followed, and Rina had
to slap another book out of Lydia’ mouth. [End music]
~ Town of Igor – Eastern District – Nell’s Mini-Lab ~
Professor Nell’s lab looked small
from the outside, but it was much larger inside after realizing how clean her
room was. Each test tube was placed in order from smallest to largest. They
were sparkly too! Several different kinds of weapons were placed in groups of
close-ranged combat and long-ranged combat. Posters were on each side of the
room, right in the center. It was almost as if she had obsessive compulsions.
“This room is bright and blue,”
Lydia commented. “The silence is too clear.”
“Why thank you, kind lady,” Nell
giggled. “You don’t talk much, but when you do, it is such a compliment.”
“There is a rock in my shoe,” Lydia
added.
“What?”
Rina stood in front of Lydia. “Um,
ignore her.”
Felix whispered to her, “It’s the
truth shard speaking, isn’t it?”
“Sh!” Rina gave a scowled
expression. She whispered to him, “We don’t want this woman to know that Lydia
is an Obsidian.”
Professor Nell displayed all of the
weapons for Rina to see. It was quite similar to what Felix saw in the
battleship back in the village. Large swords and metal bows were all over the
place. Several different types of guns were organized into the corner.
Felix looked at his crescent blade.
“Whoa… So we can put magic into these?”
Nell shrugged. “Hopefully. Right
now, only direct magic can easily be catalyzed as I am still researching more
on natural energy. Young woman,”
“Rina.”
“Rina, my apologies. Please choose a
weapon and I will see if we can catalyze it with your magic!”
Rina viewed all of the weapons from
left to right.
“Hey, if you get to keep these
weapons, you might as well choose something threatening!” Felix said.
“Shut up, I know.”
“How about the scythe?” He asked.
“Or maybe that awesome machine gun.”
“Yeah, yeah. I got you.”
Choose Your Weapon Wisely
Rina: You know what would be great? Felix: What? Rina: Choosing a halberd! Felix: I think one of the Gammel leaders had that! I saw her while she caught Clyde. Rina: Great choice. I can imagine stabbing my enemies several times. Felix: How... descriptive. Rina: And then they get to scream 'I'm soooorry!~' after each regret. Felix: Um, Rina? Rina: Then when I'm done with them, I'll drag them to a cliff. Felix: Uh... Rina: And then I'll hang them alive against a branch and have them starve to death! Felix: That's terrible! Rina: So anyways, onto my next choice.
Lydia grabbed a weapon off to the
corner. The handle was made of wood, but there was a steel chain attached to the
wooden stick along with a metal ball with spikes. [Music 4.1]
“This is?” She said slowly.
“That is called a flail. Some people
claim it to be a morning star, and I would say that does sound quite
beautiful.”
Lydia suddenly attacked the corner
of the table. It made a small crack and Nell screamed. She began to fall into
tears.
“A-Are you okay, sweetie?!” The
professor began rubbing the corner of her table, more concerned about the table
rather than Lydia’s personal well-being.
Felix grabbed Lydia’s weapon. “Lydia,
don’t do that!”
“This weapon is powerful for me. I
like it.”
“Don’t use it unless you have to.
Actually, why don’t I hold it until you’re… conscious to attack at necessary
times?” Felix kindly took the weapon away from Lydia’s hands.
“I have decided!” Rina finally
finished.
Rina grabbed a weapon in front of
her and then she turned around. Professor Nell and Felix suddenly frowned.
“Are you… kidding me?” Felix sighed.
“Oh!” Nell blushed. “Eheh, y-you
chose that one of all weapons??”
Rina agreed with them. “Mhm!
Knives!! Actually, they’re throwing knives.”
“Are you stupid? Once you throw
those at enemies, you can’t take them back unless you run up to them.”
Rina pouted. “You’re calling me stupid? Such audacity! I can just use magic to
boomerang it back to me. If I can make flames burst in front of the weapon
after it is thrown at a target, the knife can come bursting right back to me.
I’m pretty good with controlling my magic, after all. So yeah, get with the
program.”
Felix turned to Nell, “No one would
get with the program because no one has magic…”
Nell giggled. “I would say that is a
marvelous idea!”
Rina tilted her head, “What the hell
is this, Suspenders? You’re trading your crescent blade for a flail?”
Felix suddenly hid the flail behind
his back, “H-Hey! Lydia chose it.”
“Oh. I was going to say, nice
choice. If Lydia can’t control her movements, we might as well hold onto it.
Here, put it in my backpack.”
Rina turned around and she only
stood there, waiting for Felix to walk over to her. Felix gave a long pause.
“Well, are you going to put it in my
backpack or not?”
“Aren’t you going to take it off?”
“Why should I make the effort of
doing that? Hurry up. You come over here instead.”
Felix placed the flail in the
backpack without questioning her. After all, that backpack must have
sentimental value such that Rina would never take it off. [End music]
“Anyway, so how does this catalyst
crap work? I’m interested.”
“Oh, right! First, we will have to
place the knives onto the table. Then, focus your magic into it and if light
begins to emit into the weapon, the catalyst is complete!”
Rina gave an uninterested look at
Nell. “That’s your research? Putting two simple things together?”
“Like I said, it’s not simple when
you don’t have natural magic.”
“If you say so,” Rina said. She
began focusing her magic on the knife and red light was pouring out of it.
Nell was ecstatic. She began dancing
in circles, finally being able to see her research progress at light speed.
“Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!
It’s actually working!”
Rina began to blush. “Yeah…”
Rina’s hands began to shake and her
eyes were almost watering. Felix noticed, but before he could say anything,
Rina’s hands shifted by accident and the knife flew forward and off the table.
The flames from her hands dispersed and Rina fell backwards with Felix barely
being able to hold onto her. Rina paused with her eyes opened wide. She
suddenly pushed Felix away.
“Get away. I don’t need your help.”
“Hey… You almost did it.”
Nell clapped her hands together. “That’s
close enough! Would you like to stay to help me on my research?! You are
amazing, indeed!”
Rina grabbed onto Lydia’s hand.
“It’s fine. I have to see This Talbot guy immediately. Then, I need to collect
those shards for Lydia.”
“Oh, that’s a shame… Will you come
back?”
“Maybe. But right now, I’m in a
hurry. Can I take these knives?”
Felix squinted his eyes. “What’s the
hurry all the sudden? You still need more practice.”
“Look, I just wanted to see if I can
use a weapon with the help of my magic powers. It turns out that I can, and so
I’m leaving with it. So, where’s Talbot?”
Nell gave the teenagers a map of the
laboratory. “Very well, if you are in a hurry, then I might as well support you
since you helped my research by a landslide. This is a map of all the
professors in this building. Professor Talbot is my mentor, so please be kind
to him.”
Rina snatched the map away from the
professor, “Yeah, okay. Thanks.”
Felix bowed to Professor Nell.
“Thank you so much for your help. I want to come back and see your research
progress someday!”
Nell blushed. “That is so
considerate of you! I promise to try my best. Thank you for your help as well!”
The three students began to rush out
of the building to find their next target: Professor Talbot.
~ Town of Igor – Eastern District – Talbot’s Lab ~
The hallways of the laboratory were
long, but it was obvious figuring out which door led to Professor Talbot’s
room. Of course, it would be the largest door. Rina knocked on the door
aggressively. Felix whispered to her, hoping she would show a little more
respect to one of the most famous geologic professors in the world.
“HELLO?!” Rina shouted after
realizing that there was no answer.
“Rina, seriously!”
Lydia suddenly kicked the door
several times and Felix had to stop her.
“I need the flail.”
“N-No you don’t.”
Rina suddenly casted a fireball at
the door and it exploded. Some of the professors from the smaller rooms came
out in surprise. There was debris all over the hallway, and all you could hear
were coughs and complaints made by the professors.
“Oh look, the door opened,” Rina
said sarcastically.
“Why do you always do this?” Felix
frowned, remembering the time when she exploded his walls back in the village.
“My, my,” A familiar voice spoke
from inside the room. “I guess I will need to get that fixed pretty soon,” he
said casually.
Rina grinned. “I had a feeling.”
Felix was shocked when he saw the
professor. “Aren’t you…?!”
Professor Talbot appeared with a
smile. “Yes, it is I, the scientist.” [Music 1.3]
“Not just any scientist, either,”
Rina said. “This is the same guy who attacked Lydia and crystallized her memory
into an orb!”
“What?!” Felix glared over to
Professor Talbot, “That’s him? How
are people looking up to him then?”
“Conspiracies,” Rina answered.
The professor said with his
nonchalant voice, “Now, now, children. It is not nice to claim conspiracy over
those who are trying to promote world preservation.”
Rina grabbed onto her newly acquired
knives. “We’re even on the weapons now, Talbat! You’re going to pay for this!”
“It’s ‘Talbot,” he corrected her.
Professor Talbot threw a strange
object into the air and then he caught it. The object was shining in indigo.
“I wouldn’t recklessly attack me if I
were you. I have something you need.”
Rina and Felix were both utterly
surprised. He was holding another shard?! [End music]
