Leonardo Van Roy - Character Page

Leonardo Van Roy
- "Banished from the city that I love most: that is the biggest crime I will ever partake. I will return someday and protect those even if such people do not accept me."

Characteristics - Leonardo (Leo for short) is one character who doesn't entirely act his age. Although he is 24, his mindset is of a young teenager who enjoys playing small jokes with Forrest. However, the difference between him and a regular teenager is that he knows when to be serious. Part of his every day gag is his failed attempt at trying to stop teenagers (such as Felix and Rina) from yelling at each other. He is also very concerned about sanitation. Most of his ordeals involve having to surpass fear and live through a new generation of enemies.

Appearance - Leo's main color consists of green and yellow. At first, he appears as a hobo living far away from Ouli Brye for plot purposes. After his haircut, he remains in his new appearance for the rest of the series. He has a long, green overcoat that is generally unbuttoned. Throughout the earlier portions of the series, he struggles to find a weapon that best suits him, until he decides the simplistic idea of a gauntlet.

Status:
Episode Debut: 9
Episodes Shown: 53
Age: 24
Height: 6'3
Weapon: gauntlets
Occupation: royal occupant of Ouli Brye

Story plot (contains spoilers) -
Leo debuts on episode 9, living in an isolated house far from Ouli Brye. Even after a year, he struggles to pry away from being too sanitized. He is first seen in an armor, scarying Forest away. In the living room, he discusses the current situation of Ouli Brye and the false king, Nader.

When reaching Ouli Brye, the main group requests that Leo should get a haircut in an attempt to hide his identity from the Lennox army. Ironically, his new shaggy look was his original appearance before being exiled.

Leo also requests that Felix should give Forrest the cubed bazooka after having to buy it without further explanations as to how he earned the money. After his haircut and after he ran away, the barber explained that he was once a noble man living in the capital.

He returns in the capital on episode 12, saving Felix and Rina from being attacked by Ace.

On episode 13, Leo sneaks his way to literally backstab King Nader who was already planning a Gammel invasion over Lennox territory. With his tactics, he was able to get the main group free from danger, but they separated into two.

After the separation of the main group, Leo tries to cheer both Forrest and Lydia up. Upon being successful, Leo writes 'KABOOM!' on Forrest's bazooka in order to recreate what should have happened - Leo has to be the one to gift the toy bazooka to Forrest.

At the Lake City Prima, Leo takes the two younger friends out for roller coaster rides, fancy food, and an inn with his large wad of money. At night, he decides to go to the Auction House with Forrest and Lydia as they have trouble sleeping.

In the Auction House, Leo successfully wins the auctions of the Brass Knuckles for himself and an enhanced BB Gun for Forrest. The third item, the Violet Shard, was taken by Lieutenant Floir (but later on, the shard is snatched back at the docks).

When reaching Loomin and being surrounded by Floir's soldiers, Leo devises an interesting tactic again in order to trick Floir into handing over the green shard by accident. At the Aria River, Leo helps Lydia and Forrest retrieve the green shard.

At the bottom of the Aria River, we get to see more of Leo and his tactics to enter the town of Troiya. He also develops another risky plan to enter Bafuul by becoming prisoners. His idea was to use the 'toy' cubed bazooka after being prisoners. Gammel soldiers would only take what looks like weapons, not toys.

Leo helps Hazel create plans within the Grandine Hillage. The two of them stayed in the little village while the rest of the group set out to find Rina at the Hollow Cavern. Well, when everyone rejoiced in the inn, they found Leo with two girls from the bar...

At the Village of Saradeli, Leo quickly becomes accustomed with the materials from the D'Alonzo parents. He helped them build homes until the group left the village.

Leo quickly grows a liking to Viola joining the group, and he also gets paired up with her at the Li'Opa Jungles.

Both Leo and Warren fight together to stop the mutant beasts which were damaging the city of Lament. Leo also gains a suspicion towards Magnus who somehow knows about Leo's past history as a child.

In the City of Celestia, Leo pairs with Viola to have a drinking battle, but he ends up losing and gets drunk. While doing so, he begins to admit his true feelings about his past. He feels he is not knowledgeable enough and understands little of his parents.

Leo is later found fighting a plant monster to help set Forrest free from an agreement made by the Phardia mayor.

While noticing the merchant girl, and her friends (Zedd and Tedd), he decides it would be a useful idea to purchase her items for once. In doing so, these items indeed became useful when reviving Felix from limbo.

He also participates throughout the remaining journey at Magnus's tower, village of Saradeli, the battle of Lament, and Shiu Jo.

In the end, he survives the Zozna aftermath and works with his best friend, Ace, to restore balance in Ouli Brye.

Pria - Character Page

Lady Pria
- "Oh... *falls into tears* This is such a tragedy... I am very sad to announce... that you humans are all weak!"

Characteristics - Lady Pria is an interesting one in terms of importance in the series. She is known as a spirit who had already passed away, yet her body remains intact - nothing is decayed. Pria is one of the very few characters who can use magic and the reasons are unknown until later in the series. She also serves importance to Rina, being the key to making the young teenager even stronger throughout the story. Her running gag occurs when she falls into tears, only to cry about how humans are so weak.

Appearance - Pria has light purplish hair which already entails her spirit involvement in the series. She has beads running past her hair and neck that don't really cling onto her. They float to her command. She also has a long, orange garment and elf-like shoes. What sets her apart from other characters is that she can float. Although her voice is kind, she may give sassy remarks that match well with her apathetic expressions.

Status:
Episode Debut: 8
Episodes Shown: 13
Age: unknown
Height: 6'0
Weapon: none

Story plot (contains spoilers) -
Lady Pria first appears in the Silver Forest under a secret cavern in between two boulders. This is her first 'nomadic' home where she resides and continues to give natural energy to the forest. Although she explains to Rina that she can get stronger, Pria does not offer help until the next time they meet. Before she vanishes, she claims that Rina cannot aim well with her throwing knives.

It was rumored by Remy that Lady Pria had been contacting him in his sleep about needing a person, able to use magic, to stop the Gammel army.

Later in the Vaticul Canyon, Lady Pria makes another appearance in order to help Rina learn Earth magic. Still, Lady Pria considers Rina as a beginner and that she still needs a lot to learn.

Pria gives Rina her third magic: Water, at the Aria River. She tells Felix that he needs to protect her until the very end.

In the Lament arc, Lady Pria is trapped by Clyde. Pria becomes forced to use her magic in order to spread the chemical Obsidian energy. After Clyde disappears, Rina meets Pria and requests to learn Lightning magic.

Pria also enhances Rina's Fire magic at the Frolix Volcano, but her strength gets absorbed by Magnus. The same incident happens during the Lumious scenery.

During volume 5, Lady Pria becomes a recurring support protagonist who helps the group while pretending not to care about the good of the world.

Nell - Episode List

The Obsidian Tale:

Volume 1: Search - 1 episode
Episode 06 - Magic Synthesis [November 8, 2014]

Nell - Character Page

Professor Nell
- "Oh my gosh. Is it okay if you take part in my research?! I want to succeed in my studies as long as Professor Talbot notices me!"

Characteristics - Professor Nell is one of the friendlier members of the Gammel government, mostly because she is oblivious of the main plans created by the Gammel army. She is cooped up in her own laboratory, told to focus on the synthesis between magic and weapons. She hopes that someday, Professor Talbot will acknowledge her skills.

Appearance - Nell is one of your above-average professors who has the status of wearing a gray lab coat. It is said she so is so skilled that she does not need to tie her hair in a bun during lab hours. Irrelevantly, she dislikes the cold, so she wears a turtleneck garment underneath her lab coat, even on warm days. Nell has a habit of fixing her glasses in place even when they don't need to be. Of course, as an above-average scientist, she quite often carries a clip board.

Status:
Episode Debut: 6
Episodes Shown: 1
Age: 19
Height: 5'9
Weapon: none
Occupation: amateur professor/scientist in Gammel

Story plot (contains spoilers) -
Professor Nell debuts on episode 6 when Rina, Lydia, and Felix infiltrates the science library in the Town of Igor. Instead of interrogating the teenagers for trespassing, she asks them for help in order to keep her magic synthesis projects up and running. In the end, she offers weapons to both Rina and Lydia. This gives Rina the opportunity to induce fire magic into her knife weapons.

She is only mentioned as a cameo for the remainder of the series.

New character artwork

Good morning, everyone!

It is 3 AM and I just finished the LAST remaining characters for the 1/5th mark of the series. These are the missing character artwork for those who appear within episodes 1-13.

You have already seen Professor Nell from episode 6. She appears as the scientist responsible for synthesizing magic with weapons. Although she is within the Gammel army (antagonist group), her friendly exterior and personality can say otherwise.

Leo appears in episode 9 as the sanitary hobo who has been living alone for an entire year. You may have seen his character art if you are caught up.

Moilin is Garnett's father who appears late in episode 10. He is a businessman who works with the Lennox army (not enemies of Felix and his friends, but they are enemies against the Gammel army). He only follows orders that don't involve killing, but Garnett pushes him to help her work on evil deeds.

The next three character artworks appear in the new episodes that are not posted yet [mainly 11-12].

Later in the day, I will complete the update with the new episodes and optional scenes. Stay tuned!
